Muskegon County Roads : Update

Some of you are aware that the Two Trackers Four Wheel Drive Club found 10 miles of County Unimproved Roads in their Adopt-A-Road inventory that were illegally obstructed. The Two Trackers were given the 'go ahead' by the CRC to remove the obstructions. They did on all but one road (Staple Rd). There have been controversies revolving around 4 of these roads ever since.

Some background can be found at:
http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/showthread.php?t=21858

The roads in Cedar Creek Twp were immediately re-bermed and our signs came up "mysteriously" missing. We rec'd a letter from the adjacent land owners attorney that they don't think they're roads. The CRC Engineer says that they are. It's now been a year.

I'm going to attend the next Muskegon County Road Commission meeting on Thursday to find out what their intentions are for our former Adopt-A-Roads that were illegally blocked. It's "Lupine Season", so they should be getting a survey of Staple Road (Blue Lake Twp.) underway soon too.

Hopefully this will help:

Item #2007-117:
Recomendation for Habitation Study of Staple Road ROW.

Motion introduced to spend $1,000 to hire an independent Biologist to survey Karner Blue Butterfly Habitat on the ROW.

Success again.
Another step in the process that has gone our way!

So are the residents arguing KBB or ROW ownership? Or are they just trying to keep you out?
Glad to see some Co. Government decisions go our way for once.
Keep us informed.

The land owners (who presumably placed the obstructing berms) argue the KBB habitat trumps the need for the "not used in so long it's overgrown" roadbed.

County says a road is a road is a road.
Can't let this be blocked any more than we can let US31 be blocked.
It IS a public road.
