Hey Jesus I realize this is a pretty old post, first time it's been in the front. I agree that they are making the 1/2 tons with alot more rugged options. and like you said, I think they would be fine for towing with a trailer. I'm sure you remember my 3/4 ton, the main reason I got that was to carry the slide-in camper and tow my Jeep. I don't really remember the weight on the camper, but at a guess I would say around 5-7 thousand Lbs with a 6800 Lb trailer with my TJ and spare parts on it.
the biggest thing about towing is engine, trans and brakes. not necessarily in that order.
