Default White collar crew - office space drama

:dunie: :dunie:

The ghetto princess is "under to much stress" She has to answer the phone that rings for her from clients roughly 4-5 times a day. Now it rings closer to 20-25 times a day for personal calls... So I'm guessing hitting hold on her boyfriend to be a bitch to a client is stressfull

Countdown till the building burns down. T minus 3 hours.

I'm going to run my latest database report which does a 15 minute breakdown of a users day. Lets see what a stress day looks like.

This week has been lower stress than normal for me.
I think it will be short lived.

This isn't in the recycle bin yet??

Mods must be sleeping.

Anyways, our receptionist was a bitch. She'd get pissy with you if you asked her a question that a receptionist should know the answer to (where is so-and-so's office, can you give me the extension number for this person, could you see that this gets out with the outgoing mail...etc.). I think her only saving grace was that she was hot as hell. But then she quit, and everyone breathed a little easier.

Thats still better than the temporary receptionist we had last week. She told one of my clients that I no longer worked here. She told Becca Anns sister the first time that she called that Rebecca was on vacation, then the second time that she was out sick, and the last time she tried to call the temp told her that there was no one here by that name.
Most of my calls went to the other Carrie who works here and I got most of hers (though that is a more excusable offense then telling a client I no longer work here).

mind you, I've never had any formal SQL server training.
I'm not officially supposed to even have access to the production sql server, "it's a DBA thing".

yet, I get tasked with building a view, left outer join from 3 tables, converting roughly 1/2 of the field types on the fly, with a 3' long where clause...

oh, this is in the free time, as I'm supposed to also be exporting data from the upstream source system to analyze it - appears that there are some problems with the DTS packages and data is getting dropped on the floor as it comes out of the pervasive flat file "database" on the way into SQL Server.

not to mention, one of the 'customers' is constantly pinging us for very miny, and picky requests for permission changes (at the field level) for their users. Rather than having a "model" and sticking to it, they're wanting to tweak it relatively uniquely for various users. oh, and this unique target changes seemingly at whim, "this process is over, lock them out of that field". (there are over 1400 fields that participate in the permission model x 62 jurisdictions)

then, there's the python script I need to write to automate a geoprocessing routine to merge/append GIS data (I know how to spell python)

as for the phone, I'm wearing headhphones - let it ring (I have caller ID regardless)

I'm soooooooooooo looking forward to Florida next week...

I didnt break it down to 15 minute sections. I did grouping. Any break in time longer then 8 minutes got a break in my counting and reset the count.

Quote:
2-6-06 - 402 total

9:23-10:43 - 166

11:57-1:18 - 150

2:46-3:35 - 86

2-7-06

7:11 -7-12 - 8

7:55 - 2

8:10 - 8:13 - 15

8:31 - 9:24 - 105

9:47 - 11:46 - 234

Now some logic behind this - She enter "lines" into our system. Heres an EXAMPLE line -
2/7/06 *tab* *tab* 99999 *tab* 1 *tab**tab**tab* 56.30 *tab* 1 (*tab* to go to the next line)

Now how long does that take you? You're reading off of one screen which is viewing the scanned thing you are entering on the other. 5 seconds at most. Super generous there.

Her other duties are to answer the phone for clients with questions about...dun dun dun lines that she entered. Answer her email to clients....about her lines....

So yea- Home girl aint doing JACK SHIT.

Can't you use this information to get "Home girl" relieved of duty?

Shes had some past problems and I spoke with the boss about it. She was spoken to and during that meeting flatly asked what she needed to do to keep her job
"get your numbers up. Not use the phone for personal use. Leave the cell phone for emergency use only"

That same day she spent 45 minutes on it AFTER the meeting

To answer your question a quick meeting earlyier today led to me being asked to see exactly how her day looks. I played devils advocate since the boss looked at the big number and said she was getting fired this afternoon. I figured I gotta at least present all the facts before that choice is made.

Its a part of my abilities. I honestly hate it. I wish I could tell her that shes being looked into but that isnt ethical from the IT standpoint as I understand it.

Part of the perks of the system like we have it is the admin(s) can look into what X person is doing or Y person is doing. Not this detailed without going through every single thing hence where I came into play.

If I compared her to another girl doing the same thing it would be mind boggling. I think the report would take longer then 2 seconds to compile.

The other girl does over a thousand lines in an 4 hour period.

~~~~~~~~~~~~UPDATE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She is complaining of chest pain. "my ashma thing is at home and I didnt take it this morning"
Problem for her is she was singing. Yes...singing... all morning to her music. I asked her a couple times to keep her singing down.
Looking from the outside she seems to know that her termination is coming and is hoping to get some workers comp.
