Default 3.0 v6 info

Hello,

My neighbore just bought a 1994? 4x4 toyota truck that has the 3.0 in it. The po sunk it at silver lake and trashed the motor. He was looking to rebiuld it and parts seem pricey?? He needs a couple rods and some other stuff, but new rods are close to $100. each. Should he consider another direction, or is thare a good place to buy a used motor or parts??

thanks

There was an article on converting them to the newer (much better!) 3.4 in one of the offroad mags. The 3.0 wasn't Toyota's best work. I know the one I drove once wasn't any stronger than my old 22RE XtraCab. Toyota had a lot of head gasket problems with them. They even warrantied them over 100k.

A few came up on car-part.com in MI. $1900 to $600 in price.
