I got my original endorsement from the Secretary of State but it is tough to book it with them. I have been thru the Advanced Motorcycle Safety Course 4 times since then (once on a Maxim 550, once on my Suzuki GS750E, and twice on my 2000 Victory V92SC). Evidently you can take the course and show the certificate of completion to the SOS office and get your endorsement. Not only that...if you show that certificate to your insurance agency it is worth about $45 off your insurance...and the course is only $20 or $25.

When I first bought the bike, I took the TIPS test at the SOS, I think it was $15. Essentially, it is the written test for the motorcycle endorsement. The TIPS allows me to take my bike out with others that have endorsements and I'm considered legal.

Then I took the $20 course, took the sheet I got from the course to the SOS and showed them my TIPS license. I paid another $13 for a new license and was good to go.

It sounds like a lot of work, but I think it was worth it in the end. Though now, I'm selling my bike

get the list from the SOS and take it across the street from 4 bears water park, auburn road kinda by rochester road. I forget the price but the guy shows up with his own moped for you to ride. I would have had no chance to pass on my bike. I got right in also, no wait.

Think that place is gone. The soccer dome has moved.

My brother has a tester who does cycle testing, but he's in Escanaba!! LOL Check with the SOS for their listing of private road testing companies. You can get the listing for the entire state(alpabetically of course). A majority of them have cycle testers. Just depends on how busy they are. This time of year it might take a couple weeks to get an appointment.

I wasn't new to riding at all, but I still went in and took that class last year, and it was WAY worth it, I highly recomend it.

I can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking my head up a bull's ass, but I'd rather take a butcher's word for it.
