Default complete 3.55 geared, disk braked, open diff, Explorer 8.8, $200

I have one 3.55 geared 8.8 left. $200 takes it.

-------------------------------
All are from v6 Explorers, have disk brakes, a 5on4.5" wheel bolt pattern, 31 spline shafts, etc. All are complete with rotors and calipers. All are drained of oil (all looked clean), have the Ebrake cables still attached, but the rubber flex lines for the brakes were cut.

If you are unfamiliar with the procedure to upgrade the Dana 35 in your Jeep:
http://www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/ford88.html
For upgrading a Ranger:
http://www.rangerpowersports.com/tech/?p=78

Axles are in zip code 48193 (south of Detroit), delivery is possible if you help pay for diesel (Libby gets 27 mpg). I'm unemployed so I'd be happy to bring them right to your doorstep. I've taken parts as far as Muskegon, Traverse City, and Columbus OH.

--------------------------------------------------

3.55 gears, 78k miles, open, decent pads and rotors: $200 OBO

Whatís the diameter of the axle flange? Just wondering if thereís enough meat on there to redrill to a 5.5Ē bolt circle. I might be interested in the 3.73 if I can dig up the money for it. Iím dead broke right now.

Thanks,
Greg

Interesting idea. The flange is about 6" in diameter. Another thought I had is that fullsize Fords with the 8.8 have the 5on5.5 bolt pattern if you want to get those shafts cut down and re-splined. Or depending on the widths of this axle compared to yours, maybe even a set of 5.5-to-4.5 spacer adapters for the front or 4.5-to-5.5 for the rear.

So it doesn't look like I could drill that large of a bolt pattern. I was thinking of having the existing holes plugged and redrilling for a 6 on 5.5 pattern to match my front. Back to the drawing board I guess. Thanks for your help though.

Depending on the width of your front axle you could use a 5on4.5" to 6on5.5 spacer adapter.

I looked into the adapters but they're 2" wide each. The Explorer axle is already a little wider than my stock axle, an extra 4" and the tires wouldn't clear anymore. I'm having a really hard time finding a 6-lug axle that's narrow enough for my truck. Looks like I'm just going to bite the bullet and buy a limited slip and discs for my stock dana 44. Would have been a lot cheaper if I could have made your axle work though. Thanks again for all your help.
