Exclamation Since you have to have a........

Location posted to even post in the "For Sale" threads...... I think you'd might as well impose a Must have e-photos to post along with your sale!

That would keep the thread count down by eliminating all of those "Got Pics".....x2.....x3.....x5......x157.......

Just a suggestion

That's not a very good Reply PP.

So why hasn't it happened yet?

You're such an enforcer when it comes to people and their locations...... It just seems logical that PICS should be a must!

It kinda goes hand in hand with the logic of; If I don't know where the item is or if its too far away, that factor alone will force my decision of me buying the item or not! Now, If I could see the item, I could base my decision of making the distance being worth my while or not.

I'm guessing here, but since you seem to move a lot of merch. on this site, one would think from a marketing point of view, It would beheave you to want to make it easier for your consumers to make the decision to purchase your items. The photos posted would help accomplish this.

There hasn't been any negative discussion on this idea..... of course the thread is still young..... so why not make this a "rule?"

It hasn't happened because its a bad idea.

And yes - there has been negative discussion. The Cliff Notes is that people who can manage to get on the Internet can also manage to type a location. Asking them to post pictures is a lot. I deal with trying to help people with pics on a daily basis. Its too much to expect of people and would kill the Marketplace's activity level.

Suggesting pics and forcing pics are two completely different things. Give it up. Its not going to happen - and its not just because I don't think it should.

Then, you need to post better directions on how to post pictures or offer up a pic hosting service (ie www.Photobucket.com) to make it easier to post pics.

Posting Pics is not a big issue...... It seems as if the majority of people that is selling items has an avatar of some sort. This proves that they are not all that computer Illiterate, as you insinuate! Further more instead fo enabling computer illiteracy, how about making a "sticky" educating them..... since you seem the one that has a problem with it!

This comes from someone who has "Turn in your internet license, you are not qualified" as a perminant signature?

According to your reply it seems as if you need to surrender your "license!"

There are no directions, because pics aren't required.

You're thinking way too hard about this, man.

How about if it only applied to used items where wear is a determining factor in its sale such as tires?

Then why do you push the individuals location so hard? Isn't that the sellers responsibility too?

Because you need to know where the shit is in order to buy it - either to pick it up, or to figure out the shipping. You don't need pictures posted on the board to buy something. The pics can be emailed or the item can be seen in person. If they don't provide the pics, its their own fault if the item doesn't sell.

Man PP, you're making the same point I was saying the other day! .
http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/showthr...t=41911&page=2

Why can't the same thing be done with the individual's location?

All I need to know is what is for sale, the asking price, and contact information. Hell, most auto swappers only give you this much info. All you usually get is a State and a Phone number. You don't find many ads in the swappers that don't have photos!

Its up to the sellers to post their locations not You or GL4x4!

But if you must inforce the locations of individuals, You must inforce photos for all parts being sold!

The point I am making, is that the issue you are pointlessly campaigning was decided a long time ago. Its a bad idea that will severely hurt the site. Keep your bad advice to yourself.

I'm unsubscribing from this thread now.

The problem I see with that is not everyone has a digital camera. No since in buying a 200 dollar cam to sell a 50 dollar part. But yes pics are nice.

Not everyone has a digital camera, not every one has a good internet connection to upload the pictures, not everyone has the software or ability to quickly and easily resize pictures, not everyone who has the software knows how to do it, people who request pictures of items that are in the same state, usually less then an hour away are either tire kickers and have no intentions of buying anything, OR they are too damn lazy to get in their car and go get the item or look at it.

Pictures ARE helpful, I will never argue that, but they do not tell the whole story, and if you really need or want something you can drive an hour to go get it, just like you do for a fishing pole at bass pro, or a new accessory from mumblys, or the jeep outfitters or Koz, etc.

Requiring pictures is stooooopid.

Requiring locations is quick and easy and helps n determining if you want to buy X part for $20 bucks 50 miles away, or picking it up new at the 'zone 5 miles away for $35 bucks. (just a cheesy example)
