Default powerstroke oil consumtion and trans issues

my buddy just got a 95 p-stroke, and it uses crap loads of oil, but says it doesn't seem to leak, i haven't really looked at it yet, but wondering if anyone has had this issue. it uses a gallon of oil to a tank of fuel (400 miles). the PO said he had the injector o-rings checked, and they are good, and not leaking. (supposed to be kinda common).

now the trans issue, it shifts fine, but if you try to accelerate hard, it will down shift, no matter how fast you are going. (down shift and red line in the lower gear) PO said it has a trans code of some sort. he was told it is probably the wiring harness to the trans. anyone have this problem??

For the oil consumption problem switch to Shell Rotella T.

Not sure on the trans issue, but post the code when you know what it is.

Honestly, it sounds like injector seals. Powerstroke use about 1,800 psi in oil pressure at the injector - If oil is disappearing that fast, that really sounds like the culprit.

injector seals are ordered, thats what everyone as cumminsforum said, as well as the local diesel shop, even though the PO said they were "tested". the fuel filter is all oil, and it gets phenominal fuel milage... it should with an extra gallon of oil in the fuel! not sure about the trans yet, local shop said its probably a valve body solenoid pack. ill find out what the code is.
