welll... that was actually kinda funny... he had the rear end of his jeep stuck in about a foot and a half of mud... and where you see him in that video is where I was when I pulled his truck out (he wasn't in it as he would have had to get rather muddy).... So.... I had to laugh at him but it towed nicely....

and then when I entered the other hole I told one jeeper (don't recall his name) to follow my line as he stated that he could do anything that a Hummer could do... he saw my LR tire above his hood and decided that hole wasn't for him.... Later that hole ate up a grand cheroke... but that was for a different reason....

the engine in the early Humvees was a GM 6.2L diesel... they later had a 6.5L diesel (both of which were naturally asperated) and then went to a optional 6.5L Trubo Diesel. Civilian trucks all had the same engine options but also had a 350 gasser for the '95 / '96 MYs.... the gassers and the NAs were rather weak... the TD is nice but could be improved - nothing like a duramax or Cummins or powerstroke....

honestly never throught of changing the engine in the Humvee... it was a truck that I wanted to keep as "military" as I could.... I do know a buddy that has a '92 civialian Hummer that he put a 24v Cummins in... big project but MONSTOR truck now... 42" tires 6" body lift... its a beast....

me and my father put a 2004.5 "600" cummins in a 98 2500 silverado that came with a 6.5 turbo. we hand built 3 6.5's before we decided we needed a cummins in it. right now we are having a problem getting the cummins to rev past 2200 rpm. even barring that, you would freaking love that thing with a cummins in it.

So you had the 6.2L? I know what motors come in H1...I was just asking what you had in yours as it doesn't sound like diesel

yup... that is a good 'ol 6.2L naturally aspirated Diesel.... If you listen to it when its being cranked up it sounds more like a gasser v8 unless you are in the truck... it reminds you :-)

the worst thing was the 3spd transmission.... 55mph max cruising speed... top speed of about 72.... I won't miss those days

(I tried to get the isn't to be corrected to an i_s_ and it shows properly on my screen just not when I save it - technical problem?)

I was there that day, it was fun watching all the hummers out there. I even got to drive one of them, went through stuff without even trying, I think it was Joel's? that I got to drive.

The Tan Humvee was a Military owned HUmvee built in 1985 and sold in the mid 90s... I picked it up in 2002... Sold it in 2006.

This is a guy that I ran some trails with in Moab. Great conversion, Cummins. Does this one sound like a diesel?
