CC I got the e-mail reply to my test thread but not to the for sale items thread, which I started on the 5th, about when it seems PP told you about the problem. Maybe things that were started during the problem won't work but new threads will?

I'm not sure.

This is the first I've heard about it

Could have happened with pre-new server notifications?

All my existing/old Subscriptions are still working. I even got a notification on that old-ass thread about being a Mod that someone dug up from a year ago.

look at the time stamps on the emails. are there any specific rhyme or reason?

Are they 10 minutes apart, 8 minutes, etc?

3:13
3:16
3:41
3:48

Exact same times as the posts that I received from this thread.

Just got 2 PM's with no e-mail notification.

Maybe it doesn't send pm notifications while you are logged in?

I'm surprised nobody else is having issues with this, because someone would have complained.

let me see how pm notifications are processed

Ok. I figured it out.

I have 31,000 emails sitting in a batch that have been returned. I never noticed before.

heres the error:

Connecting to mailin-04.mx.aol.com [205.188.156.249]:25 ... connected
SMTP<< 220-rly-yd05.mx.aol.com ESMTP mail_relay_in-yd5.8; Thu, 12 Apr 2007 16:20:08 -0400
220-America Online (AOL) and its affiliated companies do not
220- authorize the use of its proprietary computers and computer
220- networks to accept, transmit, or distribute unsolicited bulk
220- e-mail sent from the internet. Effective immediately: AOL
220- may no longer accept connections from IP addresses which
220 have no reverse-DNS (PTR record) assigned.
SMTP>> EHLO host2.gl4x4.com
SMTP<< 250-rly-yd05.mx.aol.com peer name unknown
250 HELP
SMTP>> MAIL FROM:<nobody@host2.gl4x4

I never setup a reverse-dns on the mail server. Basically the emails the server sends out are not telling the recipients server where they came from. Hotmail, and AOL have stopped accepting emails like this because they usually spam.

I changed the settings on the reverse-dns to point to my server, so after 5 or 6 hours aol and hotmail should see this change and start accepting emails.

I'm not really sure how you could have received any of them.

I think Misfits having this same problem not too long ago with Comcast would have been a clue. :tonka:

Actually, a lot of national lists have been reporting problems with AOL specifically. The AMC-List basically said about a week ago that they weren't even going to try anymore and told all the AOL subscribers they were on their own.
