Default S 10 strait axle conversion

Has anyone done this conversion? What axle did you use what leaf springs did you use. What steering did you use again the jeep looks fairly strait forward. I've done some research and jeep axles seem the easiest and cheapest but the d30 is fairly weak and most have less than desirible gearing. What would you recomend I'm looking and running 33 inch tires or less.

If it was me I'd run a HP d30. For 33 in and less tires an upgraded alloy shaft would be plenty strong....if your running high HP you might wanna go d44 but I wouldn't spend the money.

From what i've read on a couple of good write-ups on pirate4x4 you can run a HP d30 from a cherokee, the cherokee steering linkage, and a 2wd s10 pitman arm. If you go this route you will need to get creative with suspension links but thats not too tough.

You could run a D30 from a yj with similar results. Just use leaf springs instead.

I did mine but with 3/4 ton axles.

There are lots of different ways and parts.
Just take your time and work through the bugs.
