Default valve adjustment

I have a 454 with roller rockers.can sombody tell me how to adjust the valves.

well it can be done with little effort. these are the steps for hydraulic lifters.
1. have you primed the oiling system and filled the lifters? if no then do that. I use a distributor with the top cut off and drive it with a 1/2hp drill.
2. if the oiling system is primed up. are the rockers set up and the push rods all in place? if so then turn your engine over till you see the intake valve on the cylinder your adjusting do its cycle(watch the pushrod go up & down) then tighten the rocker by hand till it contacts the pushrod. spin the pushrod with your fingers while you tighten the rocker. when it stops turning then turn the nut another 3/4 to 1 full turn. then tighten the lock nut if you have one. do the same on the rest and you will be done.

3.if you have solid lifters then you have to "lash" the valves and you will have to turn each cylider to the top of its compression stroke. set the valve adjustment to the spec. and tighten lock nuts if your design has them. if you have clamping bars then install them when done and recheck all the gaps. have fun.
