Wouldn't it be nice if you could use an umbrella as your auto insurance.

hahaha...I am glad I am old for once.

I have full coverage on a 87 YJ, with a replacement value rider, additional liability for passengers (students, etc) and glass coverage that even covered a soft top window ($0 deductable) and it's just a little bit more then what I used to pay for PLPD when I was younger.

could depend on vehicle too though. I have 4 vehicles and a house thru them and also a DFCU customer. Lots of discounts.

Just got quoted from Progressive here in town for both my vehicles....$399/6 months. I'll be getting that tomorrow, and yes the Jeep is written in as lifted.

State farm knows about my YJ (I drove it to the office once) and they insure it with no problems (PLPD with PIP.)

It has around 8" of lift, 36's, no windshield, etc, etc... They thought it was cool.

did you get a rider to cover accessory replacement? I think written as lifted merely means they'll cover you in an accident with the modified suspension. Not necessarily replacement value of the vehicle.

No, I don't care if my jeep gets totaled. I'm more worried about killing someone with my Jeep than I am wrecking it. Only PLPD with PIP, with lifted vehicle written in as a rider.

That is who I am through. My yj was about the same, on 36's, and I was covered in my wreck. They had pictures of the Jeep.

Their auto claims are fairly easy to deal with, but their personal injury is a bitch to fight...

I dunno the real technical law jargon, but, basically, if you haven't told them your jeep is lifted, and it is, you may not be covered under insurance, even though you are paying it. Asking your agent is the best plan to see what is covered.

Eric I think all insurances are that way. I'm still fighting with Farm Bureau to pay $4k in medical bills from a auto accident three of my kids where involved in(my mother in laws van) Our no fault state makes my auto insurance pay for it....but they wont. I've already payed all the bills. Court is next on the list.

I have State Farm for my insurance now. They where cool with the ZJ on 3.5" lift....I need to take it to them when its done and see if they will insure it with 8" of lift.

Not really. Some agents will tell you anything you want to hear to sell you a policy. It's called commissioned sales. They sell, they get paid. The best idea is to read the policy and figure out what is covered.

well you are not just "giving" them money....insurance is a requirement by law to drive on the road....that is why I just have PLPD on mine. kinda works out with michigan being a no fault state, you pretty much just have to worry about yourself.

That is true to a point. Even with PLPD they may deny a claim based on vehicle modifications. But I hear what you are saying.

Thats odd aaa is twice as much. I just had Progressive quote me on a Rubicon and Vette, AAA was almost 500.00 a year less with more coverage. I spend plenty of time dealing with insurance companies and I wouldn't consider progressive insuring anything I own. Have fun getting them to pay if need be.

They only need to cover for me if I kill someone. Like I said before, the jeep getting totaled is the least of my worries, its not worth a whole lot, and can always be rebuilt.

I have filed a claim with progressive on 3 occasions and had no problems.

I had a 5.5" lift on my XJ when I rolled it. Progressive paid me top dollar when they totalled it, and gave me an additional $1,000 for all of the "extras" on the vehicle (lift, tires, etc.).

I even told the adjuster I couldn't wait to get another lifted Jeep. He didn't say a word.
