Talking Mud, Beer, Hills, Logging Trails, Up North>

When: April 21st.,
Where: Leave from Petoskey@10:00am
Why: Beat the living shit out of our toys.
What to expect: Well, crazy, there is currently eleven rigs going all jeeps with exception of a Rhino. Most of the people going are experienced and have no problem scratching the shit out of there rigs going down tight trails. We'll attempt to steer clear of paved roads. We'll probably stop some where for lunch and beers. We'll go hill climbing, mudding, make our own trails. Four of us have winches. PM me(Jason) or call me @ 231-549-1199.

hmm...have not heard about this. but i would advise not to make your own trails, and try to stick to legal trails. The DNR can get pretty frustrated, and this sounds like quite a DNR fest if they catch you. This can cause them to get a bad impression of ORV's in general, and lead to the closing of trails.

I will be on Drummond for the "Spring Opener" that weekend with guys from GL, so i will not be able to attend. Keep it legal, especially for people that live....in petoskey. We dont need people like you ruining it for everyone else. And you do realize...that by posting your name and number on the internet, in a public forum, attesting to these illegal actions, it is very easy for the DNR to see this, or someone to "tip" them off. We just dont need this shit ruining the trails for everyone

I love the way members rip on each other about only wheeling on legal trails yet I see lots of pictures posted on this site with members in group runs on illegal hill climbs( Grayling). As far as the DNR goes they told me if a 2wd passenger car can't make it through then its illegal. You see the state makes lots of money writing tickets and the more places they make illegal means more money. Have fun, and don't get busted. JM2C

you see, that is the wrong attitude to take. If we EVER want to change the way things are, we have to correct our ways. Organizations like GLFWDA, and many people do work to try and support our sport by being in contact with the DNR and working to improve the 4WD situation in our state. Many improvements are actually being made, and its not right just to have a "do whatever you want, just dont get caught" attitude. You obviously dont know the aspects of the 4WD situation in MI, because you are not involved. Get involved before you make stupid commits like that

I know some people may wheel on illegal hill climbs that are on the trail and such, (such as in Grayling) but that isnt what I really have a problem with, even though it is against the law. You are not destroying or creating new land issues. That is the type of stuff that varies from DNR officer to DNR officer, and the law is very sketchy in that area.

However, making your own trails is BULLSHIT. There is not excuse for that. That is the stuff that the greenies just love. Ripping up swamps and wetlands, driving through the woods where-ever, and when-ever you want. That type of stuff makes it very hard for organizations like GLFWDA to change the public opinion of 4 wheelers in general, and its not just here, its all over the country. Organizations like UFWDA and Blue Ribbon, fight to keep trails open all over the US. You may think situations like this do not matter, but they really do. What happens when someone who goes on this ride travels to....Tennesee. They decide go wheeling down there, but they are used to making trails and avoiding the DNR and stuff like they did up here, in turn effecting the way that the people they wheel with see the image of four-wheeling. It multiples, and hurts our image.

Trails are closed everyday because of attitudes like, "Have fun and dont get caught". Get involved if you really want to make a change in the four-wheeling community

Whow.. This hole thing is all blown out of proportion. The beer, maybe at a trail stop. The hill climbs are on a seasonal trail which has existed since the 70's. Making our trail was at a fucking buddies house. Oh yes and mudding when was that illegal. I have volenteered hundreds of hours maintianing trails. I have groomed the snowmobile trails for four years. I apolagize for the post, thought one of you guys would be intersted.

thank you for presenting it like that. That is a 180* difference from what you posted (at least from our eyes). Thanks for clarifying it, and I am glad to meet someone around my area that is also into wheeling. Let me know if you guys want to do some wheeling other than that weekend, since ill be in the UP. I have a CJ-5, on 36's, Detroits, Winch, OBA, blah blah

Getting involved doesn't pay the bills as far as the DNR is concerned. If you did your homework you would know that the state has decided to hire more DNR officers in rural areas instead of regular cops because they cover more ground and are more apt to write more tickets. Its all about the cash. The state could give a shit less about our natural resources they are just a commodity. As far as trails being closed because of peoples attitudes I doubt it. Trails are closed from idiots doing doughnuts all over the grass chopping down trees and making campfires all over the place and dumping their garbage and human waste. An sometimes trails are closed just to bust people driving on them so the revenuers can take more of your money to support their efforts. I have thought of getting involved but I think I might wind up in jail for speaking my mind. America, land of the free. Who ever told you that is your enemy. (A quote from one of my favirote singers Zack de la Rocha)

Know Your Enemy.....................http://www.mediamax.com/onearmsteve/Hosted/Know%20Your%20Enemy.mp3

Huh!
Yeah, we're comin' back then with another bombtrack
Think ya know what it's all about
Huh!
Hey yo, so check this out
Yeah!
Know your enemy!
Come on!

Born with insight and a raised fist
A witness to the slit wrist, that's with
As we move into '92
Still in a room without a view
Ya got to know
Ya got to know
That when I say go, go, go
Amp up and amplify
Defy
I'm a brother with a furious mind
Action must be taken
We don't need the key
We'll break in

Something must be done
About vengeance, a badge and a gun
'Cause I'll rip the mike, rip the stage, rip the system
I was born to rage against 'em

Fist in ya face, in the place
And I'll drop the style clearly
Know your enemy...Know your enemy!
Yeah!

Hey yo, and dick with this...uggh!
Word is born
Fight the war, fuck the norm
Now I got no patience
So sick of complacence
With the D the E the F the I the A the N the C the E
Mind of a revolutionary
So clear the lane
The finger to the land of the chains
What? The land of the free?
Whoever told you that is your enemy?

Now something must be done
About vengeance, a badge and a gun
'Cause I'll rip the mike, rip the stage, rip the system
I was born to rage against 'em

Now action must be taken
We don't need the key
We'll break in

I've got no patience now
So sick of complacence now
I've got no patience now
So sick of complacence now
Sick of sick of sick of sick of you
Time has come to pay...
Know your enemy!

Come on!
Yes I know my enemies
They're the teachers who taught me to fight me
Compromise, conformity, assimilation, submission
Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite
All of which are American dreams (8 times)
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams
All of which are American dreams

ROLLBARBOB posted a picture of a huge chunk of land his boss purchased that I'm sure will be developed at some time in the future. How about a invite BOB?? I would be willing to pay.
