Default New to the site

Well looks like no more Mustang boards for me, here I come GL4x4.

Looking for suggestions on the goods and bads of Wranglers made in the mid to late 90's. Now that it looks like the wife and I are no longer the owners of a convertible Mustang we're thinking about getting us a Jeep. I'm leaning toward a manual trans V6 Wrangler, is there anything in particular I should look for, or out for????
We're planning to use it mainly as something to play with, with an occasional trip to the north country, and maybe a daily driver for me on occasion.
From what I've seen, people seem to pile up the miles on them, yet they keep on running. Should I put a cutoff on mileage somewhere? I'm not afraid to work on things, and honestly high miles really doesn't bother me much.
I am keeping a V8 engine swap in the back of my mind as well.
Any help would be appreciated.
Alan

Welcome.... Not sure if you are going to find much in terms of a V6 Wrangler from the mid to late 90's. They didn't start putting V6's in them until this year. You can find plenty with I6's though

See that's exactly the type of item I hope to learn here......
Thanks, and a I-6 would be just as good.....only usually more durable...

welcome allen the I-6 is a GREAT motor and runs long and strong I had 169000 on mine when it was totaled and was still very strong. That was in a 95 YJ (sniff sniff) miss that one. I have a Tj 1998 now with 206000 on a four banger and is still running great. To find a good older jeep you will have to keep checking and ponce when you find something. But on older ones keep the frame check from end to end make sure it is solid. For a DD and the ocational up north trip the I-6 would suit your needs fine and get some better millage then an 8 would. But any money you have after you buy a jeep will be spent just like water and you will soon be broke just like the rest of us. Welcome to the fun! Hope this helps just my 2 cents
