99 Z71 5.3 new fuel pump not working(2nd one)

I was driving my truck about a week ago doing about 55 when my truck suddenly died. So I tried to start it up and it just cranked over. Go to turn the key and listen for fuel pump no humm. So we tow it back to the Barn drop the tank and buy a new fuel pump. Put it all in and still doesn't work. So we figure maybe a fualty pump. So last night I bring the new one home go to put it in and still no humm. Check the fueses and relay and they are all good. Test to see if there is power at the conector at the pump no power so we cut the wire to see if it is the connector, b/c we heard that they go bad. Still no power! Is there something that we are missing or has anybody gone through this before!

Please if anybody has any idea's feel free to let me know.

Thanks!

Check the plug for the sending unit and fuel pump pay close attention and look for discolored connectors, this will cause the pump to work intermittently.

Not a chevy but you get the general Idea

check the ECM fuse, a buddies of mine would pop every once in a while. Yes the GM pump comes with a new wire harness. That is what was wrong with mine. It did the same thing you described.

Fuel pump on these trucks is fairly common. I do not have the answer for you, but am awaiting to find out your problem as my truck will need a fuel pump someday too. Trail XJ knew exactly what was wrong with my truck a few weeks back, maybe he has some insight he could share?
