Default buying a gun questions

im looking into buying my first gun and i have a couple of questions.

1. Im looking into getting the springfield xd. I was thinking of getting the 45 acp but also considering a compact. pro and cons?

i guess thats about it. i dont really know much about guns other than ive gone to the range a few times and shot when i was in the military.

Go to Target sports on Woodward in Royal oak and ask for Ken, talk with him. They rent the XP so you can try one out first before buying to make sure it's the gun for you. I myself just bought another Glock G30 .45 acp few weeks ago which is a compact and love it.

The Ruger Alaskan Super RedHawk...plenty of stopping power in a compact (loosely) revolver.

I have shot a subcompactXD-9 and liked it...so much that I almost sold my Glock to buy one. Nice safety options, and feels great.

Nope. Brandishing is not an "accidental" showing of the handgun. It is showing it with the specific intent to intimidate.

If my jacket slips up while I am getting something from the bottom of the cart in the store parking lot, it's not brandishing. If I pull my jacket back and make sure you see my gun because you are trying to get my parking spot, that's brandishing.

Nice Colt! I'm envious.

(And x2 finger on the trigger, even for photos)

And back to the original question...

The XD's are nice guns. I think it's pretty much personal fit/preference when you start comparing Glock/XD/S&W M&P, etc. The quality of these, and others, are good.

Either way you'll pay the lawers to settle it,,

As with most gun infractions you are guilty until proven innocent

And most people would have problems concealing that Colt.

So it depends on what you want the gun for

i was in the same boat and was sold on the XD but after looking around and looking at guns and proces i am now sold on the smith and wesson M&P and if you buy it at jays you can get the "kit" which comes with 3 clips a hard holster and a clip holster and a case for 530 dollars great deal and also can change the grip plates "comes with 3 grips" to fit it to your hand
great deal
has all the features as the xd and looks to me to be built better

You Garbage lover !!!!! Springfield is where it's at

The XD Sub compact is my favorite of the XD's but if you looking for a target gun get the XD40 4" it shoots just as good as the 5" and get the ported its awesome.

I would try out several guns for hand fitment first. After you found a caliber your looking for. Then narrow it down to price, and finally shoot the few remaining. Getting a gun becuase it's cool and has trick features is not going to protect your ass when you need it.(Like heated seats when living in Florida) Your gun should fit you like a favorite pair of shoes. Another thing to think about is how are you going to carry it.
Hi-Hip and tilted or not, behind the back,? Please don't say shoulder harness. Nothing beats pulling out a pistol that's pointed at you with someone rushing you at the same time. Also, holsters for your favored position aren't always made for all guns........something to consider
I prefer the hi-hip with FBI CANT setting. Easy draw and concealment.

Oh yeah, one of mine is a Ruger KP95DC.
