Default the lotto curse

Tonights jackpot is the 3rd largest pot in history. What I'm curious to know is not what you'd spend it on but whether you think the lotto curse will hit you. Do you know a lotto winner that has had their life ruined as a result? Do you think your life would fall to shambles as a result of your sudden popularity?

Also, if not won tonight it will exceed $400 million becoming the largest ever jackpot.

I am sure some old friends and long lost family will show up, but I would be willing to deal with that.

fwiw, my wife has a friend from high school days that hit the state lotto for $80 million. Since that, his wife divorced him, his relatives spent their portion and hate him for not giving them more, and charities won't stop hounding him. He hasn't been able to hold a job down to keep busy and ends up doing volunteer work when he can and working on his house.

Can't you win and stay anonomous?

That's how I would do it. There would only be a few (10 or less) people that would know.

supposedly there's some rule that they must disclose the name of the winner of mega millions ( or any multi state lotto ) to ensure that there was no tampering and no lotto employee winning.

I have been told though you can claim the prize in the name of a trust and not take money out of the trust for a year to avoid having your name disclosed.

Fuck the lotto curse. Most people (besides family and close friends) would never see me again. I'd build my own town out west, and move my entire family and close friends (if they wanted to come) out there.

I'd then start my own religion, and become even more rich lmao

I wouldnt let it ruin my life, if my wife left me, then I guess I didnt need her, if my relatives bitched, I would tell them to move the fukc on then, if charities wouldnt stop hounding me, I would have enough money for some pretty powerfull lawers.

Just dont be stupid rich.

I think the curse is real, people will forever treat you differently.

the only way to avoid the curse is to have people in your life to constantly level you out, not get a hand out.

if I won something like that, I would have to give a lot of it away, or never be sane.

Mo money, mo problems

If anyone is worried about the "Lotto curse" and WINS....just give it to me so I can help you to avoid the heart ache and mental anguish that you would have to deal with. I am willing to put myself on the line and "take over" the curse for you!

I have a problem with giving the bulk of the money away myself. I'd somehow feel better investing the large sum of it and maybe setup annual contributions to groups myself.

that would work for me. It would take me a year to figure out which Caribbean islands I wanted to move to anyway and then which house would be the summer house, the spring house, the fall house, the winter house, and the vacation house.

I think it would be rewarding running a soup kitchen of sorts. Also a large christmas gathering of needy familys would be nice too.

heh, I've given the home debate a thought a few times. I honestly don't want to own more than one home even if I don't win the lotto. At best, a home and RV is probably all I'd want. Anywhere else I'd just rent. Also, the carribean sounds cool, but may not be the best place to live all year.

If I won the lotto, I'd hire two people before I claimed the money.

1. A damn good laywer.
2. A shaman to ward off the lotto curse from my family.
