Good read. Very true. I wish more people would get a clue when they say; "my bla bla is more American than your GM" or whatever. I have always had the mentality that I would buy whatever best suits my needs and is of the best quality. Lately my thinking has been changing. In most areas of the industry, the US automakers are at or above par with their foreign competition.

Blah, Blah, Blah, a play on words. some writers can spin just about anything to make it "sound" better.

propaganda nothing is truly American made anymore, it's a WORLD MARKET. get with the times.

People who gripe about outsourcing usually don't see the financial end of things that force those decisions.

Right now, I'm working with GM on 6 vehicles being designed for the US market. One is being designed out of Melbourne, Australia, one out of Shanghai, China, 3 out of Trollhaten, Sweden / Russelsheim and one out of Warren. Plus they'll be manufacturing in Canada, China, Korea, Germany, etc for this program.

I don't think of anyone as an 'american' company anymore.

Of course The big 3 are working the emerging markets and are designing both product and tooling globally.

I think the point of this article is that it is not a World Market until the playing field is leveled.

So why are we talking about cars when this should be a truck thread (AMC Eagle is the exception)?

big 3 could compete better... but wait other countries tax the shit out of our cars, and we don't tax theirs much in this country... not to mention the other stuff brought up once a week on this. It's all in the spin, personally I think once the US has no manufacturing in a few years it will be kind of funny... as I think that a few of those 'worst case scenarios' might actually happen.

eh but I don't know shit.
