Hell yes it pisses me off. I have waited to have a baby until I could afford it. My mother was even a teenage mother (but never on welfare), and I waited until my 30s to try to have a baby. I want my babies to have the necessities and nice things. I also want them to have college and trust funds. Why should I have to pay for other people's mistakes? I honestly think that you are encouraging bad behavior by supporting it.

I bet by that statement that you are not a fan of D.A.R.E. either

It's not 1950 where you can just sweep everything under the rug and pretend its not happening. Those times have passed.

If the voice is not heard then things don't improve. For instance telling a story of CC's coffee break is only beneficial if something was done with that family like a complaint being filed which I would imagine he did not do. I applaude the guy that has complained on the bi-polar kid with the weed business, maybe that will lead to something or maybe it won't but good job on the effort.

As for Walter Reed we see that changes are being made because someone spoke up about the conditions. I think the greatest country in the world could handle health care and the reason for that is because it's people can voice their opinions and force change.

Sometimes we don't get it right, example Bush being elected for a second term, but thanks to our system we only have to endure 4 years until we get to try again and most of the time we learn from our mistakes.

I can force change today by going to another health care provider and spending MY money there instead. Isn't that an easier and better option?

What you're failing to see is WHAT is great about this country. It isn't the government body. It's great because it's (supposed to be) based on liberty. A big part of that liberty is a free market.

The government of this country was never supposed to provide vital services to the public like health care. That's the markets roll. You can see how the gov't fails in this type of role by looking at the school system, welfare, social security, etc. All of them failing to meet the needs of the people. Why? because there is no competition, no free market, no freedom of choice. The money is taken from your paycheck and spent where the gov't decides to spend it.

A free market society helps to keep the power in the hands of the people, not the government.

Maybe you like the idea of giving your power of choice over to politicians, I don't. By keeping my money in my pocket and deciding in which hospital I spend it in, I have to power to make change without the need to redress the government. They aren't involved. If a hospital is sub-standard they won't survive because no one will spend money there.

Yes, I do this every time I vote. Sometimes the person I want in office doesn't happen but I gave my opinnion and I will get to do so the next time.

I guess I have a bleeding heart for poor people but not all poor people mostly poor kids that came into this world with messed up parents and right into the gutter. IL might be the first state to have free health care for children and I'm all for that. I guess once again we'll see how it works and only time will tell.

Your comments don't ever deserve any more effort than that, sorry.

Oh, I'm sure I've called you a jackass. If not on here, I'm sure I have said it while reading your stupid uninformed opinions.

And if you make the effort to do a search for my comments of you and find that I've called you bad names and hurt your feelings, I will save you holding your breath for an apology, I wont.

IT's cool, you don't have to worry about my feelings stan . . . tear.

The funny thing is that I'm not all the liberal . . . boy are you going to be spinning in your grave when the liberals from the next generation take office.

In describing myself I think Liberal and compassionate could be interchanged.

Here's a question for you woohaw, how do you think America can afford this?

If Social Security is going broke (all politicians agree on this, including your buddy ), and we run a deficit (including future war spending for when Iran nukes us), then how in the hell can we afford socialized healthcare too?

Do you have any idea how much that will cost? Your taxes WILL be raised to pay for it (I'm takling like in the 60%-70% range like in some european contries). Do you really want raised taxes to pay for this? AND if so, is it fair and good to steal money from peter to pay paul?

It's all about management.

I think at sometime in the future we will stop stealing from Peter to pay Paul and actually get our finances in order.

We as a country right now would be so Fed if Asia decided to sell the bond market.

The deficit from monkey boy is almost laughable.

I have no idea how to fund it but it's a good idea in my opinion. Helping people is always a great idea.

Holy crap. How can you make a statement like that and claim not to be a liberal.

You just proved every word Stan used to describe you to be accurate.

We already help our own. There are many programs in effect that help our own. Many of these programs are designed to provide short term assistance to those in need until they can support themselves. Other programs provide long term assistance because they are not able to support themselves.

I'm not sure what field you're in, but if you want a insider's view on how our tax dollars are spent work for a government contractor. You may think the contractor is milking the government, but in many cases it's only because the contractor is abiding by the standards and rates they set. Gain some experience there for a while, then decide if having a national health care plan is a worthy investment of taxpayer dollars.

You are all alone in your opinion, do you think maybe that's a clue that your opinion is wrong? Try using reason and logic to form an opinion.

It is not always a good idea. Giving them handouts is not helping them, it's making them dependant on the system for support. It gives them a sense of entitlement. Look around you, this false sense of entitlement is happening today, right now. No need to see if it's going to work in Ill.

Americans are entitled to only 3 things:
1.) Life
2.) Liberty
3.) the the PURSUIT of happiness.

translation:
1.) We(the gov't) will protect you from being killed by other people.
2.) You are free to do as you please so long as you don't infringe on the freedoms of others.
3. YOU are allowed to do what YOU need to do to fulfill YOUR needs.

I don't see anything about picking anyone's sorry ass up out of the gutter and giving them anything.
