Default 96 s 10 brakes

I have a 96 s10 its not a 4x4 it is just my daily driver, I hope someone might be able to help , when the roads are slippery and I apply the breaks there is a sound that sounds like gears grinding it can be felt through the brake peddle, it has a manual trans and when I move the shifter into neutral it continues so im sure it dont have anything to do with the trans but it sounds like grinding the gears in a manual trans, it is happening when I apply the brakes on icy roads and the front tires start to slide on the ice,

Yep, the ABS is what your hearing. It's a horrible sound, and at night it will draw so much power that the lights will dim! I wish they'd give an option to disable that crap.
