Michigan Tech Is Closed!!!!!!

This is the first time that tech has closed in a very very long time. We have front end loaders and huge snow blowers moving snow downtown screw the snow plows when you have heavy equipment. Easily got 2 feet of snow. Last night we had thunder and lightning during the blizzard.

Here are some pics
I dont know how ti get the photos to show on this page if you do let me know

I took these from my apartment window so the screen got in the way a bit but you get the picture

When I was living in the UP all of the cameras used this stuff called film.

Then you had to take it to the store to have them develop the film. That could take 7-10 days. Or if you were cheap you could mail order the pictures to have it developed. Then it was an easy 2-3 weeks.

Life was hard back then.

I think its funny that the day tech closes, 125 other schools in michigan close too. I'm convinced that the reason school was closed was a reason of convienence. I think the city was too busy to clean the downtown to clean the side roads. There was alot of snow there before this storm so they kinda had no choice but to get rid of it. If you look in the picture the loader with the wing blade is the one they use on the steep side roads so I'm pretty sure that they just pretty much screwed themselves in the longrun.

I used to think that until I actually lived in Hancock. They have a lot more snow, but not near the amount of surface to clean or the same amount of traffic to deal with.

Thanks for the pics though. It helps me remember why I left. I still did not go far enough south though.
