Default Woot! Wings Got Bertuzzi!!

I wish he was healthier though. At least they got some muscle. I always liked the guy. Compare him to how everyone hated Cheli when he was still in Chicago. He should be a good add.

LOL

Just saw... traded prospect Shawn Matthias (big 19y/o forward) and possibly 2 draft picks based on performance.

Last night they sent Jason Williams to Chicago, they sent someone to Philly and they sent Kyle Calder to us.

I would rather have Williams than Calder, but oh well, I'm not the GM.

I would also rather have had Bill Guerin over Bertuzzi, Guerin is healthy, has about 60 pts. this year, and has played in almost every game. Bertuzzi has a bad back and hasn't played since Oct. Good Luck!

I'd rather have neither. Calder is a friggin minus 31! makes 3 mil too. I figured they'd deal calder today.
williams makes 1.6 mil, he needed to go after this debacle of a season. He had one good season in a contract year and vanished in the playoffs.

Bert dominated us in the playoffs a couple years ago. Dunno how good he'll be coming off back surgery though.

Todd wasn't happy to be traded to the Panthers last year. He is more than happy to put on a Wings jersey by the sounds of it.

I could care less about Calder/Williams, although he opened up the night with the first goal yesterday

Im just excited to see Bertuzzi play for us! We really need a big aggressive forward, and the fact that he's got some good hands is a definite plus! Im hoping maybe with Todd being in the lineup it will inspire Lang to play a little more aggressively.

Bertuzzi: I don't think Chelli and I will roomies anytime soon lol.

Guerin would have been a better choice... I hated to see jason go but Calder will play more aggresive. Bertuzzi well if he stays healthy and plays hard well it should make for a great second line.

The ONLY good thing I can see about Bert is maybe he'll be there to protect Zetterburg/Datsyk.... like Laroche is doing for Sid the Kid now.

Not everyone I always liked Cheli. I was bummed when Probert went to Chicago, that meant no more Probert/Cheli dancing :tonka:

Cheli was always one of those players "Boy I would love to have him on our team." Along comes Bert and I thought the same thing. Cheli made a comment a bit ago about how it would be nice having someone around thats hated more than himself. I have met Chris a couple times now and he is one of the nicest guys you will meet. Up at Red Wings Training Camp he and Lilja were the only players that signed EVERY autograph afer practice. Cheli did it 2 out of the 3 days(Cheli was also spotted at Rummrunners at 1:30 AM by a friend that Sat. night with a later practice on Sun.). An article I read stated the Todd is the same way about fans.

I saw that about Calder getting a goal his first shift. If you recall, Corey Cross did the same thing last year. I thought it was quite funny.

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if those 2 ended up buddies.
