Default 4.3 swap?

NWOP has all the peices to make a 4.3 bolt-in.

anyone used them?

i'm seriously thinking about it, my 22RE took a crap on me and blew out the rear freeze plug and now won't even start anymore.

it was also pretty under powered.

anyone have any info on their parts? like a price for the motor mounts and 5-speed bellhousing adapter and such?

4.3 swap was discussed here:

I personally am not a huge fan of swapping. The 22RE is a very reliable engine, just not the most powerful. Not that the drivetrain can't handle more power either but its just making it easier to have prblems by changing things. I would regear and get a good 22RE. Look how many guys run 22REs in crawlers still.

I have dealt with NWOR in the past and had no problems though. Same for Downey.

A friend of mine swapped his 22RE for a 4.3 but I don't remember where he got his parts. He had an auto in his and it made the truck a slug. It didn't help he sucked water into the engine more than once too.

If Roadhouse sees this, he may post where he got his parts if he remembers.

I'd disagree on reliabilitiy, as I see just as many 22REs go south as 4.3s.

I've never dealt with NWOR myself, heard plenty of bad.

I'd read though here:

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...t=4.3+swap+FAQ

i'd be doing this swap, if I was going to keep my truck long term. But also I would have gone to a th350, instead of keeping the 5 speed(well, I run an L52, so I'd have to swap that over, too, to swap motors) Too heavy/big for my tastes, going back to a Jeep, though (with a 4.3/th350).

I had a 4.3 in my old C1500. 186k on it when I sold it. It was puffing and needed a clutch but still ran good.

I guess what impressed me with 22REs is when we pulled sparkplugs out to let out water and it fires up and ran (not the greatest for a while).

I've run both motors and blew my 22re up for the 3rd time now. The last build on it made it a real runner and had plenty of power. I run 32's with 4.30 and a 5 speed locked. Here is a thread i started about swaps.

I had the 4.3 in a blazer and it ran great and took a lot of beatings. I also just dropped one into a yj. I think its also a good motor.

I would go with a 22re again. thats my plan just to save money. Their are a couple for sale on here.
