CB interference

Hello all....maybe someone could diagnos this for me......I installed a CB.....nothing special.....Cobra....basic 40......I've checked the ground and it seems solid......I first had it grounded to the door strap peg, passenger side....sanded down.....and when I turn on my wipers or the heater I get interference......and the engine puts a little off as well.....so I changed the ground to one of the bolts under the driver side against the firewal.....same issue. The CB's lead is connected to one of the auxilary fuse slots behind the glovebox and the ground to the door peg now.....then I tried installing a 20amp noise filter.....same results......my antenna runs under the carpet and out to the back bumper......it's nothing special as well. Any body have any suggestions as to how I can find out what the issue is. It works fine as long as I don't turn on me heater(blower) or wipers.....and being that it's winter.....well .......that's really not an option. Any suggestion would be great.....It's just one of the annoying unsolved issues that's driving me nuts cause I can't figure it out......by the way the jeep is an 05' Rubicon......if that has any bearing. Thank in advance.

try running your ground to your battery, i did that and it took care of most of the noise for me. also how is your antenna grounded?

No idea.....it's a magnetic hunker....I'm getting ready to lift and new bumpers are going on so I didn't bother getting anything permenant. It's like $20 antenna.....is probaly not shielded very well. Thanks for the tip I'll give it a shot.

you will never get rid of all the noise.....but the best thing to do is to run power and ground straight from the battery......use sheilded wire for both....your ant is grounded to the body being that it is a mag mount.....not too much more you can do there

When it's a question about Jeeps and/or radios, consult one of the gurus: http://www.stu-offroad.com/cb/cb_install-4.htm
