Default ok what did i do

so my engina overhates if i am at an iddle and theres no fuild in the overflow
but when i move the tmep goes down

well put some fluid in the over flow make sure the radiator is topped off. lastly make sure both fan shrouds are in place, and that your fan clutch is working..

Replace the thermostat and top off the coolant

Try using some lube.

Seriously, sounds like the electric fan isn't working. Probably need to replace the temp switch for the fan, not to be confused with the sensor for the gauge or the sensor for the ECM.

In chat he said he was sunk in some mud

He also said there was a hole in the radiator (and yes I asked multiple times to make sure)

My guess is there is barely any coolant in the system thanks to that hole

After Reading what SS said. Id almost say replaced the whole cooling system.. running the engine for any period of time with Fry the water pump, it relys on the coolant to lubricate the bearings internally. without that, it's more than likely fucked.
