With Jenny guiding the ship, criminals are gonna be the only ones with jobs. So by closing the prison, she is creating new jobs.

With her piloting the ship, we should be hitting the rocky shoal sometime. It doesn't matter if the crime rate goes up as long as we have a balanced budget.:stan3:

Quick, somewhat related, question:

Do you think we should have billions spent on locking up people whose crime is selling drugs? Sure drugs are bad, but you guys seem to subscribe to the theory of, "if you're stupid enough to do something, you get what you deserve". So do you think we should lock people up whose crime is merely selling a product that happens to be illegal, but really only physically hurts the person who is willing to use it?

cue SOAD:

Drugs became conveniently

Yeah I will be broke by then. Her money making policies are going to ruin a lot of small business that is already struggling.

So far everything she has proposed has a direct bad effect on the economy of the UP. So here's to CREATING more jobs while losing the ones we already have:stan3:

Wait, does that mean that you feel the need to protect the stupid people that use the drugs? It's all about supply and demand . . . after taking econ get back to us on your theory.

I see it as good idea to save billions and we all know that in 10 years maryjane will be legal so she's just getting a jump start on the process and that is good since I hear that MI economy is hurting.

Think they need to look at why it is costing so much just to run a prison. I have a good friend that works at a maximum security prison and she is constently complaining on how good the prisoners have it there. They seem to have more rights then she does and they have more amenities then they did if they where out of prison. She told me when they had to take one of the prisoners to the hospital that it cost the goverment about $45,000 each day the prisoner was in the hospital.

well. we spend all this money for locking them up, it's not like people that go to jail for selling drugs are necessarily violent. You guys usually laugh about people who do something stupid and die, well, doing drugs is stupid and people die...just chalk one more up to the darwin awards...why spend all this money on people to keep them locked up when we can just legalize it, have the government regulate it, and make money off of it instead of losing millions and millions?

Okay, I kinda see sova's point.

Now before you flame away at me, read what I have to say.

Dealers need to be sent away.

But, I know there are a lot of streets that need to be cleaned. Houses in the D that need to be torn down. Kinda taking a community service to the next level. Give them classes to kick the habit, okay this will cost money. But if you get ride of the users, the dealers will go away.

I have honestly thought that shame would work as a better tactic then locking up the users.

I know my ideas need a lot of refinment, but I am just saying that there can be another way, that would cost less, for everything.

Hey asshole, what about the ones that are in jail for selling drugs other than pot? Should they be set free also? What about the crimes people commit to get their money for the drugs? I guess that isnt figured into your equation. It isnt as simple as guy1 sells drugs, guy2 uses drugs.

I hope you are drinking tonight. You want to spend money on classes for them? Apparently we dont have any money so we need to put criminals back on the streets.

As for the way that will cost less , we need to start putting a bullet between the eyes of violent criminals. Then we will have the room for drug dealers and non violent criminals.

Let them all out and hopefully they can kill off a few thousands more that drug users who deplete the oxygen from this earth. You guys always say that most drug users are on welfare so I'm suprised not more of you are all for this.

I'm all for it too but Michigan was the first state to abolish the death penalty and will probably be the last to reinstate it. I think Texas does this right.
