Default New House Checklist:

I am in the process of putting together a list of necessities needed for survival in a new house. I am moving into a new house soon and want to make sure I have everything I need prior to moving in. I will be making a list this weekend and want to make sure I have all bases covered so any comments would be appreciated... so far for starters I have:
Dishes
Silverware
Pots and Pans
Vacuum
Microwave
Cleaning Supplies
Toiletries
etc.. I am at work and cannot make a huge list right this second.

call ahead and schedule phone and internet and cable hookups. I have moved and had to wait like two weeks in the past.

Shower curtain, if they didn't leave one or you have shower doors, and a garbage can.

Oh yeah, a sense of humor. There is always something unexpected when you first move in!!
Congratulations!

Yes it does, I was helping a friends Aunt and Uncle move in once, got started and he had to go "loose some weight" u know how embarissing it is to go to your new neighbors's house and ask if u can use their bathroom, then go take a dump there

Also dont forget beer and other stuff to bribe the neighbors into helping.. lol

yeah, new toilet seats and door knobs is good..

A plunger, perhaps, too. Never how how finicky a new toilet will be..

When you can, do a survey and get spare light bulbs for all your needs ( I can't believe how many kinds we need here, and was caught off guard when the little one in my son's nightlight burnt out...)

Cleaning supplies! I always think it's a good idea to clean the inside of cupboards, the bathroom, kitchen, windows, etc before putting stuff in them.
