Default mounds opinions?

Hey everyone,

i am sure this is in the wrong category, was not really sure where to post this

i live on the other side of the state near silver lake, and was wondering if the mounds orv park is worth the drive in your opinion?

i love silver lake, but i need something different, my wife says how many times do i need to take "TEST HILL", I do agree with her....the park is small, but it is fun

i would make a weekend of it, food, shopping for the wife and wheeling for me

never been there, looking for opinions, suggestions on where to stay, what to do

I want to try drummond island, the badlands, the mounds....

I am 33 now, and it seems all of our friends are married and have kids and sold there toys, so it is just me and my wife now.....would this park be fun for just her and I? or is it a group kind of place?

any help would be appreciated

I dunno that's a pretty long drive. I don't wanna bash the mounds cause I always have fun there and we're real lucky to have it still, but I think its kinda small and crowded for the money you'd spend to get here, jmo. Lots of other stuff around though, F-muth and Birch Run mall about 25 minutes away, it could be a fun little getaway

I have been to the mounds when I owned quads but not with a my Jeep. If you like mud I guess its ok. The Mounds & Silver Lake are close to people for day use so they are good in that respect. Everyone likes different stuff. I'm 52 and have had enough mud in my life. I'm going out west this summer and we ride up north around Gaylord, Grayling and Kalkaska. If you go to the mounds don't underestimate the depth of the "puddles". I just noticed your near TC. Again, If it was me I would be dissappointed if I drove that far, but Im OLD:) You may want to take her to the Outlet mall and Chickenmuth first...............they may not let you in with all that mud on your shoes. Maybe we will see you up north some time.

The mounds is a good place to go to because it is less than an hour away from where alot of people on this board live. I highly recommend you do not take a whole weekend to come to the mounds. While there are always people there to pull you out, it is better with a group.

You live in one of the best parts of our state. I think you will be disapointed if you drive down with the purpose of just going to the Mounds.

If you were coming to the area for other reasons i would say it's definitely worth checking out.

the mounds can be fun for the new people at the sport, IMO too far of a drive for you and your wife, with what they have to offer. the Badlands would be a much better place to drive that far. the Badlands have a little bit of everything for everyone, the Mounds is mostly mudholes, water, and some off camber trails.

As much as I enjoy the mounds, I agree with the others. I go there at least once or twice a month but 15 min and 30 bux a year is different than a weekend and a long drive. I usually get bored after 3-4 hours, sometimes 2.

Not worth the drive at all. I agree that the BADLANDS would be a much better use of your time. Not much going on in Attica but there is a larger town about 30 miles away.

if you wana make a weekend and are rich enough to let your wife have the credit card just drop her off at the outlet mall or stay at one of the hotells in frankenmuth she can take a shuttle to the mall and bronners (christmass 12 mo a year verry not me) if i remember right, then go cover your self in mud... im planing to head up to the mounds a few times this year its the closest official trail iv been able to locate. if you do go and decide the mounds are dull you can atleast not have wasted the trip with visiting f muth its pretty cool with lots of interesting stuff to see and hotells with waterparks etc too.....

mounds is a fun place , ive never wheeled there but ive been quadding and dirtbiking many times. Be careful of the puddles, they are way deeper than u might think.

I wouldn't make the trip just for the mounds, but if you make it a weekend adventure for you and the wife it would be worthwhile. You should probably hit Windsor and Detriot while you are on this side of the state too.
