Agree with you on the first part; couldn't disagree with you more on the second.

This issue is one of those perpetual 'buttons' that these people will push forever to perpetuate their agenda regardless of whatever science eventualy is or is not brought to bear.

I know it's a viable fuel but the fact that the environment may suffer even more form it's mass productions scares me. It is thought by many nonliberal whack jobs that our current weather problems (hurricanes, El nino, floods, droughts, etc) are not caused by global warming but rather by a large amount of moisture in the air.

This moisture (humidity) comes from the large corn fields of the plains states and what is the largest source of fresh water in the world. The water source is a huge aquifer that lies underneath the plains and is used to irrigate the corn fields. The aquifer has been slowly draining beyond it's ability to refill for the last several decades. It is estimated that the aquifer only contains about 65%est of what it used to. The rest of the water is in the atmosphere.

If we maintain our current use of the aquifer we will drain it, eventually, and we will have no way to irrigate our crops leaving us with no fuel and no food.

ethanol may make sence but I don't think ethonal from corn does. Everything I've read about it would suggest that the amount of energy you get out is hardly more than what you put in to grow and process it.
