Default apparently porshce doesn't like being dethroned by Jeep...

New Caynee S released. Sure it's 2.5x the price of the JGC Hemi/SRT8 thing, but if one spends that sort of money they should be able to snidely look down at the kid revving mom's soccer mom mobile at the redlight, and dispatch 'em like the insolent kids that they are

Specs:

Engine
Displacement - 4.5 l
Horsepower - 520 hp
@ rpm - 5,500 rpm
Torque - 530 lb.-ft.
@ rpm - 2,750 - 3,750 rpm
Compression ratio - 9.5 : 1

Performance
Top Track Speed - 168 mph
0-60 mph - 4.8 sec.
MSRP - $ 111,600

Curb weight - 5,192 lbs

Chip/intake/exhaust should easily get you over 600bhp, if not more. <-- comment from a long time porsche owner, and current owner of a 997 Twin Turbo lightly modded.

I prefer the SRT-8 GC over that hunk of crap. Porsche should have stayed with cars IMHO

I like the srt8 as well.

but if I had a 997TT, or a GT carrera, it'd be cool to tow it with yet another Porsche imho.

curious, what makes you think it's a "hunk of crap" ?

The public perception of most, is that generally the Germans make very well engineered vehicles, with some notable, and relatively recent exceptions. (albiet expensive to maintain, but well engineered, and generally reliable)

I agree that it is most likely a quality auto but at that price it is also illogical :gman:

Actually, German quality has been suffering as they've tried to expand market share.

Volkswagen and Mercedes have suffered pretty bad (VWs especially)..

The bottom line is the Cayenne outsold all other porsches by a healthy margin.

I guess "hunk of crap" was the wrong term
Theres not a doubt in my mind that this is a well made vehicle, and yes most germen made cars are known to be well made. However, i just can't see spending 111K on an SUV that goes fast. I mean i like going fast as much as the next guy, but if i wanted to go fast for that kinda money, it would not be an SUV. I have nothing against Porsche at all, infact i like most of their cars. but an SUV is just not my style for going fast. A C6 ZO6 would be my choice of style and fast cars. Just my .02

I have to agree with Gman on this one. The Porsche Cayanne Turbo was expensive enough. I mean yeah the car is sexy as hell but still!

Well when the kids are late for soccer practice, the 911 Turbo just wont cut it you need a Soccer mom SUV that can do 160mph through Suburbia.

if i was even thinking of spending $111k at the porsche dealer there is no way i would be able to NOT get a 911. For me i would not especially want the cayene at $111. I bet they sell allot of cayenes to long time porsche owners who were spending money on landcruisers, g500, lexus lx470, escalades and denalis. It makes sense in a way, but at the same time its kinda perverse in my mind to think of porsche making trucks. Ohh well. It is fast as hell and handles well for being so big its a very porsche'ish truck so i guess its ok. I could have allot more fun with 111k, like a 1990's ram diesel, a nice buick grand national, a early/mid 90's air cooled porsche 911, and a lotus elise, all for around the same 111k.

I guess that part that everyone misses is that Porsch & VW are one in the same they are all coming down the same assemblly lines and the VW Tourag and the Cayene are just carbon copys chassie wise. the drive lines are nothing more then the bottom of the barrel in German engineering and they have finished almost dead last in the last ten years for Quality in JD powers reveiws of the againest everyone else. same turd... new coat of paint. .02

The other think people aren't thinking is who is buying them.

If you have 120K to spend on a vehicle, you probably have several 100k+ vehicles. I've known a lot of these kinda people over the years.

They want a 911 in the summer and a Cayenne in the winter, or to tow with, etc.

These aren't people who just buy one.

Looks like its time for a form of supercharged (meaning turbo as well) HEMI. $50k and can beat a S model Porsche, lol.

actually most people i have seen with a Cayanne (sp?) use it accordingly, i've seen them pulling scca e30 M3's and 911's, and i'll bet the porsche drives like a 100K suv. sure there srt8 may go fast too, but i bet the german handling really shows, and sometimes there is nothing like a turbo.

Same reason they made the RAM SRT-10, Viper owners showed an interest in a tow rig for their vipers. i heard the SRT8 can only tow 3500 pounds ad they are still working on a hitch to go around the center exhaust.
