3 CRD Wranglers sighted in the Soo & WTF?

Ok, I know the CRD isn't new news.....

But seeing test rigs is still kinda cool....WTF is this?

There was one right hand drive and 2 left hand drive....one was lifted.

And is it just me or does this one look REALLY long for a 2 door?

Ok, here is the WTF.....

LEAF SPRINGS? SPRING UNDER? So are they just a test? A different platform? More stable? Cheaper? I looked under there and there were no spring buckets on the frame or axle. They had rear shackles like an XJ.

Hmm... think the leaf sprung one is actually a Gladiator in a Wranger suit? That would REALLY break my heart... live axle leaf sprung diesel pick up... I just noticed the LWB 2-door is the leaf sprung one.

All 3 had leafs. One short 2 door, 1 normal 4 door and one REALLY long 2 door. All 3 had solid front axles and coils. Gladiator....hmmmm.....

Holy crap longarm! Best of luck with the lemon case. My friend had a turbo pt cruiser with some issues. Took 2 fricken years to settle it in court. DCX will purposely drag this out in hope you will settle with the first pidly offer they give you.l

Longarm, that's really too bad about your KJ. The CRD jeeps seem like the best idea since full steel doors. It's unfortunate that the execution wasn't up to the snuff of the idea. Good luck settling with DCX!

The KJ CRD motor was an old piece of crap. The new BLueTec motors are very nice.

I'm guessing you are seeing mule vehicles for a gladiator truck.

In general, I'm not suprised to see stuff up there with all of the test facilities in that area for winter test.

God I hated those weeks in Brimley.

I was hoping that you would reply Jesus . Yea, we see lots of test vehicles...some in camo and some not. I tend to see more in camo in the summer.

I also agree about the truck mule...especially on the really really long 2 door. The others looked like normal Wranglers except the leaf springs. I understand the long one could be a truck in wrangler camo and the 4 door...but the short 2 door...don't understand the platform there. It would make for a very short truck. Shorter than the brute. Frame was the same length as a normal Wrangler.

Those leaf packs were beefy for sure.

They must have seen my Jeep and realized how cool it was. Yeah, I'm pretty sure thats why they ditched the coils in favor of the old school, it was my Jeep.

The export JK CRD's still have coils in the back... that long 2 door with leafs is prolly some export for military use or something like that.

I've talked online to guys in Europe and Australia with the 2.8 CRD that love em. DCX had to seriously tweake the 2.8 emissions because in North America our Emissions Control standards are alot higher. People who own the KJ CRD are going through EGR Valves like water. I am surprised that there hasn't been a recall. As a matter of fact, I am going through the Lemon Law process right now. DCX offered me a replacement venicle without even a fight. That from what I am told is to handle matters with the CRD's EGR's failing as quietly as possible. That is why the new Blutech CRD that was supposed to be released in the Grand Cherokee's keep getting pushed back. Here is a link to LOSTKJ's webiste to confirm. You can surf that forum to learn all about the problems. The transmissions and torque converters taking a dump, ect......
http://www.lostkjs.com/forum/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=5

That motor is gone anyway. The ones Tim saw are probably the new 3.0L that is in the new Grands.

We have 3 Liberty CRD's at work and the only problem we have had is a CD changer in one. Two of them have over 50K miles and the other has around 25k miles.

I wish I knew stuff that I couldn't tell you but I don't.

Probably export and/or military development vehicles.

I hate to disagree, but I bet it's that they are export and/or military test vehicles.
