Default axle tech

what would it take to make a wagoneer axle 5x5.5? Just a new hub assembly and bolt it up? or would I have to change the whole outter setup?

I'm no expert but I would think the knuckle and everything outside of that to include rotors calipers, and outer shaft. Do a Google search. Or do I have to do it for ya??

Im assuming your talking about the Dana 44 front axle

This wont get you flat top knuckles but if thats not an issue
if so you need this

Ford F150 73- 83 Dana 44 Front axle

Inner bearing
Cup
LM603011
Cone
LM603049

Outer Bearing
Cup
Lm501310
Cone
LM501349

Jeep 1981 J 10 Dana 44 front axle

Inner Bearing
Cup
LM104910
Cone
LM104949

Outer Bearing
Cup
LM501310
Cone
LM501349

as you can see the outer bearings are the same but the inner ones have different bearings but the races is the same

these are the part numbers from Napaonline.com
and youll need the ford hub part number Hub UP85943

and the a brake roter from the same years truck your calipers and brake pads will work

hope this helps

you can swap the entire outer from either a ford or a dodge axle to get the 5 lug pattern. that is the somewhat easier option.

if you want to have flat-top knuckles and chevy calipers with a 5x5.5 pattern there is a way.

you start with either a chevy or jeep flat top knuckle from a pre 1976 dana 44. this should have a spindle diameter of 1.75". you will also use the caliper plate and caliper from this axle. you then use the hubs and rotors from a ford axle, around a 78.

you are unable to use the spindles from a 77 or later chevy/jeep axle because the spindle diameter is bigger and will not fit the ford hub.

also the ford axle uses a different bolt pattern to mount the spindle to hte knuckle so you can't mix the parts that way.
