Default '91+ Flywheel (for 4.0L H.O. motor)

Hey guys,

I'm not typically a "cheap-to-free" parts requester, but I have a favor to ask. We (the Scrambler Owners Association) thought that a dealership would be sponsoring us with a flywheel for this SOA Great 8 Restoration Charity Project (charity Scrambler build), but it was a tough year, and they cannot do so at this point...understandable given the economy.

The Scrambler is currently being built in Virginia. The quick rundown (for those who haven't heard about the project)...
The immediate next step is installation of the motor/trans/t-case. We have a 4.0L-to-T176 bellhousing from Advance Adapters, as well as the required clutch parts.

We need a 4.0L H.O. flywheel, though (the 4.0L motor I donated for the project was from a '96 XJ automatic). Can anyone help out? A tax-deductible receipt for the donation can be provided. Please let me know if you can help.

Thanks,
Craig

Whats the difference between a post '91 HO and a pre '91 non HO?

I got a flywheel, and pressure plate for an '88 4.0 off a Commanche. Should work with a T-176 since it fit in my T-18 just fine.

It's got some rust on it, my friends were wusses and couldn't hold the crank still enough, had to recruit another friend the next morning. I didn't get the thing off untill then and it got rained on overnight. Nothing a good resurfacing shouldn't be able to fix though. Only has 81,000 on it.

Would a 91-95 work? Do you have a part number for the one you need?

I find it hard to believe that a dealership had such a bad year they can't cough up under $100 for a flywheel!

Russ - The dealership said the parts are different for non-HO and HO flywheels. I don't know the specifics, but know that I need a '91+ model. Thanks for the offer, though...much appreciated.

Jeeperz Creeperz - The retail at the dealership is $325, and their cost is around $200. They are involved in another local charity, as well. They would still like to help with the charity, but said to check back after the 1st quarter of the year due to budgetary reasons.

Thanks,
Craig

I have one here but is a long drive... you want to pick it up I guess you really want it. I hate shipping things.

So, again, if a 91-95 4.0L flywheel will work then send me an address and I'll get a new one shipped to you. (Fuh-reebie!)

Craig I have a 92 4.0 complete motor minus thottlebody. The flywheel is on there too. Would you be willing to pay $50 for the whole thing? Or maybe some kind of trade.

Excellent! Thanks Jeeperz Creeperz. I'll PM you. If I can also get some stickers from your shop, or any signage, we'd be glad to display it with the Scrambler at our National Event in Moab in June (hoping to get magazine coverage for the project at the event, BTW).

Tom,

If it's in decent shape, I need a flywheel for my personal Scrambler project, as well. I'll give you $25 for the flywheel if you want to sell just that. Let me know.

Thanks,
Craig

I could do that or we can do some kind of trade if you want. Do you have any Jeeps in the parting out stage, not XJs. Like maybe some soft top hardware or something.

Tom (bigyj) - I PM'd you this morning.

I'd like to thank Kevin @ Jeeperz Creeperz for hooking us up with another sponsorship for the project. He's sending us the flywheel we need! Thanks! I'll get Jeeperz Creeperz added to the "Sponsors" page of the website, as well.

Craig
