Default '83 CJ7 rear end

Couple quick questions for you jeep gurus.

1] What gearing should I have in mine 410 or 411? Previous owner says it's one of those.
2] Did these jeeps come with posi-traction? Or did someone lock this rear? Both tires spin equally.

From the factory? Niether of those ratios. Probably (depending on what tranny and stuf) 2.73, 3.31, or maybe you lucked out and got 3.54.

Appears they put an optional ring and pinion kit in from Essential which gave it a 4:11. (called me back at work to let me know a bit ago) Works for me, now I just have to get some lockers for it.
