Brad, how far away should this be from the wall? I have a place I want to put one, but I will only have aprox 14' from the wall... Is that enough distance?

How is the clarity on this unit compared to the flat screen HD?

I had it mounted 12' from the screen. You can go farther back and make the image smaller but any closer and it may not fill the screen.

I think the image is better than LCD but not as good as plasma....but show me either one of those in 77" (don't make it) plus compare prices.

I went to a 106" screen with close to the same distance so I had to do a diff projector to fit.

Your welcome to see what it looks like.

CC, usually you want approx 2x the viewing distance for optimal viewing. So about 148" according to that old axiom, so your 12 ft distance sounds about right...

Ok, I did some research online, and couldn't find out what you just told me...

Brad, what is the thickness of the screen? And can is it still setup where I can see it?

I meant to say 2 times the diagonal is the viewing distance. 2 x 77"..

That helps to blend the picture and eliminate the screen door effect of seeing individual pixels.

Go look at projectorcentral.com

BTW, the infocus 4805 is a highly regarded model, and thats a nice screen, too.

Ahhh, the thickness of the frame for the screen is about 1.5-2" The screen is a screen.

Nothing is mounted but all I have to do is lean it up agains the wall and show you the projector on it. It won't fill up the screen because I would need to do it in a smaller room but you could get the idea. - Plus I could show you my installed one which is only one model up.

Do you still have it? And were you willing to toy with the price a bit or are you pretty firm on the $1100?

I have the same projector. Mine has a 92" Diag at 145" from screen. I use a daylight screen right now, but I'm removing it and using the wall (after I paint it). The screen doesn't lay flat enough for me.

If you can completely control the ambient light these are really nice projectors. The bulb life can be extented to 4000 hrs. I've had mine for over a year and I only have 256 hrs on the bulb. I use it when every I want. They can't do HD, but they are very nice. I highly recommend it. I'll show my projector set-up to anyone thats interested.

I want to go to a Home theater PC next.

Bump for ya,

AWK
