Default Question: 5.5 or 4.5 - How do I tell?

I have a ranger and looking for some rims and tires..but im not sure on the rim. Is it a 5x5.5 or 5x4.5 that fits rangers? ive heard both..so if anyone knows for sure let me know a.s.a.p. thanks

For a Ranger, (not the old F150 Ranger, but the '83-current light truck) it will be 5 on 4.5
