Default *SOLD* Jeep CJ-10a for sale (rust-free, good running diesel)

Some of you know that I own two (2) CJ-10a Flightline Tugs. I'm converting one of these tugs for offroad use (
build thread here
), and one that I have a plow mounted on for plowing my own driveway (I have only plowed with it three times...
plow tug thread here
). Since my offroad '10a will be completed in the March-April '07 timeframe, I'll be getting rid of my plow tug within the next 1-1.5 months, and moving the complete plow setup to my offroad tug for next season. This will put some cash back in my pocket, and will free up some valuable pole barn space for me. BTW. the plow was installed without drilling any extra holes in the frame, dash, etc. (it was designed to use existing holes).

I have some comprehensive
CJ-10 FAQ info in this thread
. In a nutshell, it has a Nissan SD-33 diesel motor (capable of ~28mpg when used for road driving), TF-727 auto trans, and a AMC 198 t-case locked in low-range. The vehicle has 35K miles on it. An FSJ NP-208 w/selectable low/high-range will bolt in, though, which is what I have done in my offroad '10a. The tug has a Dana 70FF rear axle w/4.88 gears and a Power-Lok LS. It's a 2WD setup, but a driver-drop FSJ Dana 44 will bolt in up front. It has power steering and power brakes. New parts include a new HD battery I bought from Napa this Summer (880 cold cranking amps, IIRC), a just-rebuilt alternator, and an inline hose/block heater.

The tub is completely rust-free (the whole vehicle is, actually)...even the floor pans are solid. Keep in mind that these didn't see road use, and were not driven in salt. All cab items are pretty much standard-issue CJ, while the frame is FSJ-based. The 1/2 top is removable, too. This tug looks short, but it's just because of the bobtail bed design. I'm easily getting a 96" wheelbase (~2.5" longer than a CJ-7) out of my offroad conversion, and I could get a couple more inches by flipping the Waggy front springs around the other way. The frame is really heavy-duty, too.

Included with the tug is all paperwork since this tug was purchased new from the military, including the final inspection report done before it was auctioned off. Not included, but available for reference, photocopies, etc., is a complete Air Force Service Manual for these tugs. I'm keeping it, but you'd be welcome to make copies of any of the information within (it includes part numbers for every part on this vehicle).

This is a relatively easy conversion for offroad use. I'm going to clear 34" tires with the stock front springs and only 1" lift shackles up front. And, you'd already have a highly-desirable diesel rig without any conversion hassles associated with a diesel swap into a standard CJ.

I'll sell mine for $2300, and you can drive it before you buy. However, I won't get rid of it before March, as I need it to plow my personal driveway between now & then (if we get enough snow to warrant that). If you want to buy it, I'll take a deposit now with the balance due upon pickup at the beginning of March. I'm located in Allendale, MI, just west of Grand Rapids. Title is included with the vehicle.

BTW, I might be persuaded to part it out, but I'd prefer to sell it complete given its good condition. However, if you're interested in a bigger-ticket item (I'd have to sell the complete motor or something first to make it worthwhile), let me know.

Is there anything that would get in the way of a passenger-side driveshaft?

Having a driver-drop transfer case. Actually, it looks like a pretty clear shot down the passenger side. What have you got up your sleeves?

I have a 74 J-20 8-lug D44 front axle with flat-tops. The 727 will accept a D300.

Rick - I'll give you a call later today.

There's a pretty good chance I'll end up parting this out, as I'd make just as much money back, but would be able to keep some small backup parts for my tug. I started this partout thread with some tentative pricing.

Attached are several pics of ideas for the CJ-10 tub/top/doors. You could mount it on a J-truck frame for a CJ-10-type pickup. You could also build a CJ-based Brute project, or a buggy. I also attached a pic of my other CJ-10a in its current state.

I'm 99% certain that I'm going to end up parting this out, as it would be more beneficial for me (allowing me to keep some backup parts for my offroad '10a). SEE THIS THREAD.

Once the tub/top/doors are sold, other parts will be available.

Thanks,
Craig
