Goob, my suggestion is don't stay in a hotel room in Lynchburg, camp with us about 5 minutes from Camp Jeep, several of us on here are camping there. If you camp with us be prepared for many beers!

I'll get everyone the campground info once I hear back from the owner.

Thanks for the invite Tony. My wife thinks your funny. We have 2 kids in diapers. A couple nights in the tent at Silver Lake is fine but 4 or 5 she won't do. Gotta have hot shower and bath tub. We may get to meet some of you at Tripper's tomorrow.

I understand completely, my wife doesn't make the trip at all, won't do any nights in a tent, and we dont have kids. Campground has showers (hot most of the time) no bathtubs for the kids tho. You'll have to stop by our camp after CJ itself, if your wife thinks I'm funny now wait until our whole group has a day of drinking at the creek under our belts!

Unfortunately, I cant make Trippers, Im going to the MSU hockey game.

I just received the above message from the owner of the campground we stay at out in Virginia. They are closed for the season right now but if you let me know a phone number or e-mail I will pass it on to Emily and we'll try to arrange a greatlakes4X4 deal. For those that i've camped with before I'll PM you with some more info in the next couple days.

send me the info on the campground, do they have electric and water? I am thinking of trying to make it to CJ, I am in the early stages of planning my summer vacation.

The wife and kid are interested too!!
I hope they aren't planning on leaving me there!

All I have right now is the owners personal e-mail. I dont know if she wants me giving that out or not so I just sent her an e-mail to find out the best way for people to make reservations. It is their off-season right now and the office is not staffed and that is creating the holdup. Past years they have accomodated all that wanted to stay there so it shouldn't be a problem. I will get everyone the info as soon as she gets back with me. It usually takes her a couple days.

And yes, they do have water and electric.

Default Camp Jeep Campground Info

Here is the contact info for the closest campground to Camp Jeep (approx 5 minutes away). The campground is Lake Nelson Campground, they do have a phone number but I dont know what it is off the top of my head. The owner is Emily, she can be reached at her e-mail of emandmark05@aol.com.

If you want to camp near myself and a few others on this board (we usually put together a group of about 10-15, not all from this board) tell her you would like to camp near Tony Fuller. Just a heads up, this group usually stays up pretty late drinking and is sometimes not real quiet. If you have kids or go to bed early you may not want to stay right next to us.

If you dont want to camp right next to us, tell her you are with Greatlakes4x4 and she'll get you in the campground somewhere. This is obviously on a first come/first serve basis and there is limited space.

They do have water/electric. I dont think every site has it though so be sure to ask for it when you e-mail her. Give Emily a couple of days to respond to you, she doesn't check her e-mail everyday I dont think.

I dont know what their prices are like this year, she didn't tell me. The campground is the closest we have found to Camp Jeep and we have been out there for all of the Virginia CJs. Emily always treats us pretty well (she even did laundry for us 1 year!) and really doesn't care what we do. The first year we went the people camping across from us were trail guides and complained about us being loud. She told them to leave if they didn't like it!

Just trying to be honest and give the heads up!

DON'T JUDGE US!!! :stan3:

Honestly though, this is the closest place and they treat us real well...you can always stay on the other side of the campground (it might help)!

Anyone interested in wheeling at Harlan ( Black Mountain ) before Camp Jeep let me know. I'm thinking about staying there for a couple nights then heading over in CJ.

I drive to Lynchburg at least twice a year (went to college their and my in-laws live there)...don't go through Ohio/West Virginia....take the turnpike east into PA and get off the Breezewood exit (usually a good time to stop anyway)...then head South through MD to Silver Springs, WV......much nicer drive and more places to stop...mid/souther Ohio and WV are kind of scary....

The mileage difference is negligible even though it looks longer on a map.

I have a free place to stay, so I should probably try and go now if y'all are going!!

HEEEEYYY! (our usual 3am yell to those driving by)

I will email her and set up my site next to you as usual. Just me going so far, and Mudqueen I think said she is planning on going. I'm not planning on any passengers just yet. Going to wait and see when it gets closer.

I say we hit up Lynchburg and get some yummy alcohol based lemonaide!

I'm going to start the t-shirts in May so we have some time.

Harlan, KY is west of where CJ will be this year. It's not to far out of the way. I'm going down in April two differnt weekends.

Check out this website http://www.harlancountytrails.com/

Everything I'd heard and the pictures I've seen look great.

I'm heading down April 27th with a group from Northwest Ohio. Anyone's welcome.

We're camping at http://www.harlancountycampground.com/

lol, Bring it on! It should be lots of fun.

I'm making the OCJDT (Official Camp Jeep Drinking Team ) t-shirts again, going to change them up a little to keep variety and interest! The tag line for this one is good too!

This year you will be able to pre-order them and I will have them and a few extra with me at Camp Jeep. Anyone is welcome to purchase one, however the requirement is you come have a beer or two or three with us to earn it!

Tony didn't some of you guys trade up shirts with the trail guides last yr??? I spoke to Emily, I'm all set with my site.
