Default Letters to the Editor (Stupid people with pens)

I read the letters to the editor just about everyday in the Lansing State Urinal. If you ever need a reminder that you are smarter than anyone in this world, just read these letters. It's like going to Walmart the day after Welfare checks come out.

Here is one from today's paper:

Quote:
Boost that wage

Now is the time for the Democratic Party to raise the minimum wage. The raise should be large. This is important because the minimum wage is typically paid to young workers with no previous work experience and no particular skill.

Alternatively, it is also the wage paid to employees of businesses that are just getting by in areas that are economically depressed.

The Democratic Party should crack down and eliminate these jobs. Otherwise ambitious teenagers who get an early start on the road to economic success are liable to become Republicans. Also, without preserving and promoting depressed and downtrodden communities, the Democratic Party will have a hard time justifying bigger government.

Jon Penn
East Lansing
So Jon, you say they have no previous work experience and no particular skill, but they deserve a large wage increase so they will be Democrats? That says sooo much about the Democratic party. Then you want to eliminate these jobs? What are you saying? Give them a raise, then fire them? I'm confused.

I can't tell if he is serious or if he's a Republican with poorly articulated sarcasm.

I kinda like it, electing to believe it's sarcasm.

It's also sort of gratifying to see someone expressing a non-liberal viewpoint who at least claims to be from East Lansing.

No offense but the sarcasm in that one is beyond obvious...

He made some goods points too.

You have to read the letters on a daily basis though. There are letters submitted on a daily basis in that paper that are dead serious when they make statements like this.
