Correct. it has the epa sticker and the dot and we still could not get it across. we tried several times yesterday and today.

I am working with a broker right now to see if i can get this one and any others that may arise from Canada

Just curious what were the issues? When I called they told me that was all I needed to get across and I think I have a badge number for the guy that told that to me. If it would help I will give you his badge number if I can find it yet. He told me it needed a dot sticker and epa sticker along with a bill of sale and title. Than a little paper work (20 minutes I was told) and you will be on your way.

Even with both stickers i needed a letter of compliance stating the the vehicle was ok. the dot sticker said federal and it need to say u.s.

This is a canadian vehicle. We tried 3 times getting across and called customs several times. we have literally spent 10+ hours trying to get this thing across

yeah, i was the driver.... tons of fun =) they know me at the border now. like 350 said they needed the exact wording "meets U.S. Standards" EPA sticker says that, DOT sticker says "Meets Federal Standards" and for some crazy reason its no good..... oh well, me n 0007 are now more knowledgable about the many ways we could get stuff across the border legally.

Call this guy:

ACTION IMPORTS

53555 GRATIOT AVE, CHESTERFIELD, MI 48051

actionimports@comcast.net
586-634-9382

586-323-1801

He is who I used when I brought my Comanche over. He was the cheapest one I called and he didn't keep the vehicle for a week like most want to do. He just took a few pics and gave me the sticker and I took it home. He does all the work and you just take the paper he faxes you to the border and they scan the barcode on it and and away you go. I just had to wait to get the paper back from customs I think it was 2 days or so at the port Huron crossing I heard the Ambassador was a little longer though. I guess it depends on what officer you get at the border as well. Might be able to squeak it through at times and not others.

Here is the full list of registered importers:

Yeah he was really cool about it and was only $250 as the others wanted alot more than that!! Of course this was about 2 years ago so hopefully he hasn't changed his price.

Sorry about that!! I just cut and paste! LOL! For everyone else the second one is a fax number! LOL!

This is what I had when I brought a '88 YJ across
As well as all the paper work required on the EPA site

http://www.epa.gov/otaq/imports/canadian/canlis95.htm

States that :

All 1988-1995 Canadian automobiles (gasoline or diesel fueled), light-duty trucks (gasoline or diesel fueled) and heavy-duty gasoline fueled engines are considered by EPA to conform with U.S. emission requirements.

Although when passing thru customs the guy asked what I had to declare and I told him I had bought some Jeep parts and he let me right thru..took about 2 min.
