differences in 98-2001 beds

So does anybody know what the differences are from a 98 short bed to a 2001 short bed? Will a topper from a 98 fit my 2001?

The topper will most likely fit, but the curve of the cab might not match. You may also have a contact concern with you Rear High Mounted Stop Light.
I have a A.R.E cap that was supposed to be for the 99 and 06, but after I bought it I found out it was for a 98 and earlier. I removed my stop light lens and made a flat cover and sealed it. I good eye will notice the inconsistant curve between the cap and the cab. I some realy twisty backwoods trails I do find that on occasion the cap may contact the cab in my configuration.
Being that you have a GMC, you will have the correct tailgate cap that allows for a topper. Chevy uses a larger flat topped cap on the tailgate.
