Default looking for people to wheel in the wayne county area.

i have a 92 f 150, lifted 6 inches, with 4.10s and 35 inch mud kings. its not a peice of crap that doesnt run either, it is considered my daily driver to ann arbor every day. also dont think that, that means that im afraid to beat on it alittle either. i need to find people who are willing to wheel in the area. i know of atleast 4 good places to wheel, that are less then 10 miles from my house. one place is very accesable, with hills, mud and trails, the other place is some what acesable, with hills trails and mud (more then the first trail), the next is kinda small, with one good hole, and 3 decent ones, but also very exessable. i also know 2 or 3 feilds that are moist, and provide alot of mud.
i own 28 foot of chain, and can get ahold of probally around 50 foot with some calling around. i am a cheap wheeler, and dont intend on getting anyone in trouble, but it is wheel at your own risk, as i will be also.:chiefwoohaw:

if anyone is interested in going, email me at baboon69erdotcom@yahoo.com.
rob

if you break, i do know a few things(ford or chevy and most anything about hillbilly drivetrain know hows.), and wouldnt stiff ya and tell you, you were sol, and if you break in the feild, i'll do my damndist to get you out. i also know a few people, just in case.

First, LOSE THE CHAINS!!!
Second, get permission of the land owners.

Then you shouldn't have to worry about getting into any trouble.

Agree with what the others stated on the legality of where you are wheeling. Get permission first, if you have it, say so.

As for the chain, those make great boat anchors, nothing else. Unless you use it to secure your truck at night! I'd leave my rig stuck before I risked putting a chain thru my noggin. Just my 2 cents.

Why would you tell someone they were me?

Other than that, I am in. I got a 23 foot chain, so I think we will be O.K.

Also, I am black, so if the cops come, they will probably just arrest me

please dont promote illegal wheeling on this website. many of us are working hard to change the way that things are with the DNR, and this does not help our cause. illegal wheeling:miff:

i understand the dnr thing. but in southeast michigan, they're not a big issue in my area. as for chains, well, theres many sides to that story. i prefer chains, cause, i cant find a strap that holds good enough to pull out a stock ford truck, let alone the one i have now. others may say, they prefer straps, cause they like to live. my one friend, prefers his winch with nylon cord, and wont let anyone or anything pull him out. there are certain precautions to be taken with all of them, no matter how "safe" they are. i work with a crane all day, lifting 3000 lbs of steal 45 hours of the week. i do know something about safety. i was just trying to see if anybody lived here, and wanted to go. no harm done. nothing implyed, other then wheelin for a day.

i'll just stick to the sell, and buy section.

thankyou.

Rob, since you work with lifting steel all day, then you should know the difference. Lifting steel with a crane and snatching a stuck vehicle are two entirely different things. There are some good articles explaining it.

Try this thread for example:
http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/showthr...t=proper+strap

Or this link:
http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/Recovery/

Either way, good luck and enjoy.

for anyone who doesnt agree with chains, i carry 3 junk tires with me, to run threw the chains. they hold the chain when it snaps. i've broken 2 chains in my entire life, and have seen wwwwaaaaaaayyyyyyy more straps break. there are safty issues with everything. like i stated. i dont drive a truck that weighs the same as a escort. i drive a 4500 lb truck. straps are fine if your not tuggin, but when you got 35's and 4500 lb of weight on top, and your on the axles, you need to tug, and have something a little stronger then cloth. to satisfy you guys tho, i am planning on trying out the 6 inch wide 50ft strap that whoevers offering, just need that 100 dollars to go along with it.

and no, that doesnt mean i dissagree with living either, or useing a strap. when the cahins broke, the chains didnt become flying projectiles torwards the vehicle, and didnt even come un hooked from the truck pulling. working in a prison is dangerous too, but people do still do it safely everyday. like i said, im not trying to dissagree with anyone on saftey... just stateing what i do to try to prevent me and others from getting hurt.

Last edited by slow96hater; December 29th, 2006 at 04:37 PM. Reason: both chains broke with the tires, and fell right away. the chains didnt become flying projectiles torwards the vehicle....

It's not just the DNR issue. It's also what other people think of your actions after the fact.

Image is everything.

Illegal wheeling just adds to the list of people who think we're a bunch of rednecks out tearing up what isn't ours.

I understand that you just want to challenge your vehicle and skill, but this is NOT where or how -- sorry.

If you want more wheeling, GET INVOLVED, but please don't do this.

If you cant afford a $100 strap, you cant afford this sport. I had a good friend die leaving behind 3 kids and a wife because of stupied shit like you have mentioned. Yes you have had a chain break and didnt get hurt, you where lucky, maybe you should learn from that. I am not the only one here who knows some one that has been killed by a clevis or chain. PLEASE TAKE OUR ADVISE!!!!!!!!!
