Unhappy 94 V6 4x4 S10 HELP!

My "cute" little DD pick-up keeps dieing on me. The other night I was out at GM Truck and Bus, I went arount the corner to the back by the docks and my truck started to lose power and chug/sputter. After about 5 minutes I got it running again and got it into the parking lot, where it died again and wouldn't start. About 45 minutes later I started it up and drove it home without a problem.

Monday night I drove down to the barn, backed up to the dumpster and let my truck idle while I threw away Christmas boxes and stuff. It was sitting, running just fine, at an idle for about 10 minutes. I got in it to drive back up towards the house and it did the same damn thing. Then after about 15 minutes it started right up and I drove it to the house without a problem.

When it starts to die, it almost sounds like my torque converter is locking up... it could be the transfer case, though. I'm not sure.

Then today I pulled out onto 8 mile road to go to lunch, and I went over a bump, my battery light came on, and the truck just died. No chugging or anything. I got pulled into a gas station and got running again, but it's idling really high with higher than usual oil pressure.

I hooked the computer up to it yesterday, and the only code it pulled was one for a high idle. (it always idles a little high, nothing too bad) I thought it might be from rain and a wire getting wet, but I let it run and poured water over my entire ignition system without a problem. All the grounds are hooked and clean, wiring looks good, battery is new.

I do oil changes/filter changes/and a tune up on it as scheduled.

Anybody have any ideas as to what my problem could be? I hate to junk the truck, it's a really nice little ride for my 80 mile per day commute.

Thanks,

Mandy

Keep an eye on the fuel pressure. That fuel pump could be cutting in and out.

I thought your fuel pump was either good or bad?

Not always. I just did a fuel pump on a Cavalier that was doing the same thing you described (except with no batt light, thats probably a different problem).

it seems to me its reacting to motion. so that leads me to beleive something is loose. I would start by tapping on the computor while its running and see if the engine drops out. it could be the board is bad or the prom is getting bad. secondy there is a ground block above the E brake on the inside under the dash, they work loose over time and can cause issues like this. also there are grounds behind the head lights on the core support that can get loose or coroded. one other thing to check is the frame rail grounds from the battery to engine and chassie to fuel tank. if one of those is bad it can mimmic alkinds of wierd stuff.

Check/clean all ground wires under the hood. Also battery connections

my 94 s-10 4x4 did the same thing, and it turned out to be that there were not enough ground wires from the block to the body, so the fuel injector sending unit would work inconsistently, causing the motor to run shitty sometimes. I would make sure your injectors are not clogged, and check the grounds.
