Default Axle shaft Q.

I was changing my U-joints last friday, and due to 11 years worth of rust (don't flame me, I haven't had the jeep anywhere near that long) the stub shaft basically exploded when i pressed out the joint. I did get the circlips out first, it was just really old. anyway. I had a spare axle shaft out of a HP dana 30 that had a ABS tone ring on it. the blowed up stub shaft has a tone ring that is approx. 1.25" long, and the spare shaft had on that's @ three quarters of an inch. the spare supposedly came out of a '93 XJ. now, my ABS works with the smaller tone ring, and it fit the 297 joint, can anyone tell me what that shaft is out of?

cliffs notes version: replaced my stub shaft with one with a significantly smaller ABS tone ring, supposed to be out of 93 XJ, ABS works, and a TJ u joint fit. just curious what the axle shaft was out of, I thought mid 90's xj's used 260 joints.

I bought the HP 30 used, maybe he just stuck a random axle shaft in it?

It is most likely from an XJ with ABS. Earlier XJ's did have the smaller 260 u-joint unless it had ABS, then it got the larger 297/760 joint.
