Why would she take a stand against the people that voted her into office . . . .you really don't know anything about politics do you?

She's not the company that is drowning because of the unions so let the companies decide. Her state isn't doing so great now but it's not due to the lack of trying and by that I mean the cutting of the budget and trying to attack a new industy into the state, technology. She also has programs with the low income cities for college grads to buy houses cheap to keep the best and bright in the state which is what I would have done if I decided to stay. She is also doing her best to not cut upper education budget which produces on the most part productive members or society.

As for Ford's problems I was thinking how nice the Condo's at FMC Headquarters will be when they go bankrupt and loose the house that Henery Built. One one side you get to look at the TPC and the other side should have a good veiw of Downtown.

see, this is why are considered so short sighted...the unions did help vote her into office, but they're also the ones that are ruining the state. maybe if she said "i appreciate the support, but for me to consider backing you guys up, you need to take some time and look at new alternatives to what you need". if she did that, i think she would be more appealing to voters that hold moderate views, who would appreciate her showing some backbone, and make up for any lost votes she might sustain. ie: when the uaw broke off healthcare negotiations with dcx, because "they're still profitable", instead of thinking, "hmm, we singlehandedly are bringing down ford and gm", maybe we need to rethink things. she needs to say, look, encourage your members to invest their money instead of buying homes and toys you really can't afford. also, why the heck would someone who just graduated from college want to live in low income housing??? how does that make sense? that program is nothing more than a joke. why would the "best and brightest" want to live in the slums???

I didn't realized that union members needed to have a baby sitter (Jenny from the block) tell them what they should do with their money. How insulting would that be to a have her tell an oganization of grown adults how to take care of themselves . . . you really don't have any idea how politics work do you??

Because not all college kids have everything paid for them and are usually pretty poor. If I could buy a house with no downpayment and have some sort of investment that I am putting my money into then I'd be all for it. Nothing like throwing your money away by renting a place. It's also part of a revitalization program that is being put in place that might help move two of MI's cities out of the top ten list of the most dangerous place to live in the nation. It's part of a long-term plan which contridicts your statment of
"see, this is why are considered so short sighted"

Instead of raising taxes lets get rid of some state workers. Too many people watching each other do they same job.

She was elected to a second term but is the same person so the last elected official was that great republican Engler.

I think we have plenty of autoworkers doing those jobs right now.

Uh, that's how work Drew, they do not believe we (the public) are able to care for ourselves or make prudent choices, hence the growth of government and associated programs.

You're all missing a key point - Neither Jenny nor anyone who preceded her in office run either the UAW or Big 3. They have to work it out (or not) themselves.

Until that time, all Jenny (or any governor) can do is keep plugging away at attracting what business they can - which means granting tax breaks and facilitating financing to overcome the unionism/entitlement mentality that dominates a large part of the MI landscape.
