Default 1966 Bronco Build

Well I just picked a 1966 Bronco with a 351w out of an 87 crown vic, and a "3 on the tree" manual trans. The bronco was originally turquoise but it has been painted many other times, many different colors. The 351 has a stock 4 barrel carb. The underbody is spotless, it was originally from Missouri, and was recently brought up 3 years ago. As for the engine and trans, it runs and drives great, the body is what needs work.

I got the truck multi-colored, and the other pics are of the walmart $5 paint job I put on it for now. This last weekend I put on a 3" suspension lift, and tonight I'm putting on the 3" body lift I have. I also got cheap 35" mud kings to go under it after the lift.

As for the paint I'm doing grabber blue with a 2 tone. I have it all planned out but you will have to see what I'm doing as I go along ;)

Got the side door inserts to go with the soft top. Also the body is now no longer bolted to the frame. The body lift should be on this weekend. Pics to come...

Nice start, I have a 351w ZF 5 speed bolted up to a 205, it's only about 2 inches longer than the 3sp/d20. Hoping to make it all work this winter. Does it still have the D30 front end?

Thats the setup I want to get. I have the 3sp/d20 now and I am converting to floor short throw shifter. Still has the D30 front and the ford 9 bolt rear.

Also for an update I put the 3 inch body lift on and the 35" mud kings. This weekend I am installing the soft top and door inserts. I will take pics when it is off the lift.

As for faster than my dads...not even close. This winter he is boring his 302 roller out to 350, and adding a stroker kit. Then he has roush heads he is installing along with the build. Should be putting out around 550 hp at the crank.

Got the trans back together last night and it is now having a binding issue. Only happens when it is attached to the extension housing off of the transfer case. So we are having our trans guy look at it today. Hopefully it will be back in tonight.

Anyone know of a good place to get a ZF 5 speed that will bolt up to a 351w and a d20 transfer case? That may be my next stop before silver lake on labor day weekend

By grinding just enough for the shifter you can put a 205 behind it. You will have about 3/4 of an inch on the left side for clearance. It's a little tight but you will need to put a mount on that side anyway, the aluminum tranny won't support that beast of a t-case.

Okay thats good to know. I kinda see what you did there, what bracket is that you put in there?

Otherwise the 3spd is fixed now. The needle bearings came apart in the input shaft so we had to take it all apart. But it is good and going back in soon, hopefully before the weekend.

Here are the updated pictures. The transmission is back in, the top is on and the door inserts are in. She is pretty much ready to go for this weekend at the dunes. I still have to get a longer shifter, and a voltage regulator for the alternator. But otherwise she runs great. I think I'm going to need power steering and brakes soon tho....lol
