is there a special tool to take the upper ball joint bushing out of the knuckle

I made one with the right size socket. But some auto stores will have it, or www.partsmikeparts.com will have it, about $30 IIRC.

I made one out of a piece of pipe weldedto a nut. i don't know about the punch idea as you have to re-install them torqued to a certian spec. 25ftlbs iirc.
