Default ticket qouta....support

hey guys....figured i would bring this up as it relates to some of us' locals in the Rochester area...

dec 4th at the rochester christmas parade a plane was paid to fly with a banner over the city during the parade...

the banner simply stated..."our police dept has a quota www.ticketquota.com "

ticket qoutas are illegal in michigan

as it stands it was a retaliation measure from a couple senoir police officers after one senoir officer got suspended for not making his monthly quota...

figure we locals need to support these guys as they think its bullshit and are working for us to get this illegal ticket quota revoked....take some time and look around their site maybe we can help out the boys in blue in rochester....

thanx...

Grifter...

Hey Grifter,

Thanks for the support regarding ticket quotas. The website offers information about ticket quotas and other police related issues. There have been some new changes - check them out.

What planet are you from? A cop can write you up for anything he feels like. Doesn't matter if you did it or not. Then it is up to YOU to convince the judge that you didn't do it. The officer knows what to tell the judge to make it stick. It is your word vs. the guy with the gun...

I know for a fact that there is pressure between deps on who writes the most tickets. But like Deke said, don't screw up and you won't get pulled over. I cringe everytime somebody here or the 'other' site whines over a traffic ticket.

A driver's license is a priviledge and the laws regarding safe vehicle operations are both protection for you and other drivers. With that, its the driver's responsibility to make sure they are obeying the laws and that their vehicle is up to code.

I am telling you guys how it is ... it's just a job. The departments have ticket quotas. Discretion is largely taken away from the officers.

Discretion is the basis of coruption. I find the handling of veichle infractions offensive. You raise your arms up in protest when a child molester only get 7 years, but that judge is stealing the bread off your table if he doesnt reduce your 80 in a 65 to 68.

Lets get one thing VERY clear. You dont break the law and you dont have to worry about a quota. When you speed, operate in a manor against the law you know the risks are there for you to get caught.

wow....do i sense a disagreement here? i get the feeling that there is two totally seperate points of veiw, that may be related but have nothing to do with each other being somehow discussed. My original post was intended to bring attn to a local police dept that is trying to fight the system and corruption in their dept because they dont wanna to "HAVE TO" write stupid tickets just to keep their jobs. instead they wanna focus on performing their jobs and making a honest difference in their community (DWZ correct me if i am wrong on the this). I honestly dont think there is anything there that anyone can argue with. The officers are fighting so they dont have to give you a stupid ticket for a stupid mistake.

so whats the beef???? what am i missing.

Find me someone who drives perfect all the time. yes there are people out there that are stupid drivers and need to get tickets, but honestly i would rather an officer concetrate his efforts pursuing real criminals (like rapists, drugdealers, what have you), not honest civilians just trying to get to work.

this is the main reason i have shied away from the police service. i dont wanna sit on the road waiting for you or some other civilian to do something wrong so i can waste your day and your money. i wanna go get shitheads and put em away. the more i look the more i see that if thats how i want to live i need to go back to iraq, where atleast i have the ability to take the initiative and hunt the real bad guys and make them pay. atleast i dont have to worry about writing stupid people stupid tickets to ensure I keep my job..

WTF?

Well that didnt take long.

I dont think a rapist is a real criminal. Just gotta drop a load off in a baby maker.

chew on that for a little while and maybe you'll get the point.

Not if he finishes me off in the process :tonka:

The nature of a "true crime" is so flimsy in its arguement I'm not even gona support it by countering it with some logic.

trust me i have chewed on that, had a really good close friend get raped by her ex, that fucker got 5 yrs in the big house. because he left the scene stole her car and drove his drunk ass around...5 yrs and her kids will have to live with the picture of their mother getting beat and raped for the rest of their lives...she called me after she dialed 911 and I beat the cops there from post. WTF? how is it that i beat cops (coding) to a rape/beating in progress. you gotta be kidding me... if i had my way all rapist would be shot and killed execution style in the street on public television.

So whats your point again?

cops need to be forced to write tickets to keep their jobs?

or are you arguing that people need to take responsibility for their actions? if so i agree,
i just think cops could spend their time and effort differently if they didnt have to worry about "how many tickets did I write today?".."oh i better pull them over they didnt use their turn signal".
