I have stayed at both Hideaway Campground and the State Park campground. WE didnt have a problem at either.

I prefer the state park though. just a little more laid back there.

Last time I stayed at a campground there, the state campground was the cheapest.

The State Park And Jellystone Are Great Places To Stay.

7 dollars a night instead of 9 dollars a night?

We tried going to that bikini bar a couple times last year, it was shut down.

Val du lakes would probably be the best option. Very easy going, closr to the dunes, and not likely to throw us out

Ok, I have a question for you guys that travel to the dunes.

Last time I went was about 10 years ago or more. And that was on ATV's.
I remember getting bored pretty quick.

What do you guys do? Only thing I can think of is getting hammered at the campground.
How many times can you go up test hill without getting bored.
When I did go there all we seemed to do was worry about some jackass crashing into us.

We stayed at Hideaway last year. It's probably not the best choice for a group like DMJC, or any group that wants to stay up late drinking. They have a rule that all campfires need to be out by midnight, and attmpt to enforce it by driving around in a golf cart witgh a bucket of water putting out fires. Other than that I thought it was an OK campground.

Silver Lake Resort & Campground it the place that used to be called Silver City. I stayed there several times. I used to like it because it was cheap but now it's under new ownership and they raised the rates but don't offer anything new it justify the higher rates. They used to be somewhat eazy going but the new owners have added a bunch of rules including the same rule about campfires needing to be out be out by midnight. When I stayed there last year they did nothing to enforce that.

The state park would be my first choice if you can get in, but it's usually booked up by the time I start planning anything. I've never had a problem there but I've never camped there with a group that wanted to party all night.

I would get bored going there by myself. It fun with the kids since you can go to the beach, or walk on the dunes, or go race go-carts, or other things when you get bored of driving on the dunes. And I like going there with a group of people, it makes it more interesting.

I have a seasonal lot at Silver CreeK RV Resort. It is a little expensive and they do not allow tents. Their quiet hours are at 10:00 and campfires are out at 1:00 am. However, it is extremely popular with women, because for a little extra money, they have the cleanest showers and bathrooms I have ever seen at a campground. I also usually have a couple of twelve year olds with me so the quiet hours are kind of nice.

Bruce you forgot to mention that they do this with a watering can by getting off the golf cart and walking over to the fire, pour the water and walk away without saying a word. All while you're sitting around said fire hangin out.

Perhaps they come back later and tell you it's time for bed.:tonka:

Yeah, it can get a little boring. But for a weekend it is fun as long as you are in a group.

But it is exciting to watch CC jump his jeep. Last year he went on and on about jumping his Jeep. Then he did it........it almost went 2 inches into the air. It was AWESOME!!

Stan thats a big reason why I hardly even go to the dunes anymore. I just get bored. If I had a 600hp rig with paddles then maybe I would enjoy it more. Sure the beach is nice for the kids, but I have a beach three miles from my house they can go play at. I plan on at least one trip this year, but will probably not hit the dunes that long.....I'll go trailriding east of town or do some sight seeing with the kids.
